Ok so I played this Jean a couple weeks ago and she was great! She really works well with my play style. However I am afraid I played her slightly wrong. They way I read it was her speed value is not decreased by the carry ability when using running shot, but could carry up to 3 characters regardless of using running shot. Is this true or does she need to be using running shot in order to carry her teammates? This was briefly discussed in the units section, but IMO no very clear answer.


TEAM TRANSPORT: Jean Grey can use Running Shot. When she does, her speed value is not decreased by the Carry ability, and she may carry up to 3 characters if they share a keyword with her.

Either way this is a great click, its just a matter of her having a moment of 9 or 5.

Seems pretty clear by the wording that the ability to move 3 figs is restricted to the use of running shot. However, if you read running shot, it says that the character MAY be given a ranged combat action. So you don't have to. So the power does what you want it to, but not in the way you might want it to.

not really since if you use running shot you will only move at half speed

Yes that is what I figured, after reading it again. Thanks for the input and reassurance. I knew you could use running shot with out attacking, this it what saves the power!

Yes the thing that had me confused is the word "AND" in the power description,making me think she could do it when not using running shot. When you really read it, it just seems unclear if the and is referring to the "When she does" still

If anyone still has a definite answer can help us out that would be great. Looks like it is still up for debate.

I would read (and rule) that as
TEAM TRANSPORT: Jean Grey can use Running Shot. When she does, her speed value is not decreased by the Carry ability, and when she does she may carry up to 3 characters if they share a keyword with her.
That may not be the intent, but that's how it reads.

Fair, I meant more about the carrying not the speed, but I hear you.

I can certainly think of some situations where grabbing three other characters, moving away and then setting them down anywhere adjacent would have been useful. Certainly being able to do it at 9 squares would have been better, but 5 isn't shabby.

Absolutely. She's gonna be fun as heck to target with some EE
