MOVING MULTI-BASE CHARACTERS
When a multi-base character moves, choose any square occupied by the multi-base character to begin the movement. The character moves as if it is a single base character moving from the chosen square and follows all movement rules accordingly. Multi-base characters must always end movement so that all of its bases occupy legal, adjacent squares. No part
of the base may be moved more squares than the one chosen for the move. If any square a multi-base character occupies is hindering terrain, the character is considered to occupy hindering terrain when it begins to move, no matter which square it starts from.
Does this mean any part of the base that is not the designated start/end square is not restricted by terrain for movement?
For example, Moving Batwing:
15..BB..ae
26..BB..bf
37..BB..cg
48..BB..dh
Only base part "1" has to be able to follow terrain restrictions to move to square "a" around that "B"locking terrain?

No. the other squares of the base has the same restrictions on movement as the selected square. E.g. if the multibase character doesn't ignore hindering then the path of an "unselected" base square could not pass through hindering terrain without stopping.
So, all of the other parts of the base ignore all game elements on the map and are entirely unimpeded by them? That is what you are saying, correct?
For movement purposes, that's correct. But once the movement ends, all parts of the base must be able to occupy legal terrain unless otherwise stated (see team bases being able to occupy multiple levels of terrain at the same time).

That's incorrect. As stated in the quoted rule above, when moving any character, you select a single square of its base and treat the character as a single base character until the movement ends.

If X is Hindering and O is Open terrain, a 2x2 or larger character can move freely through O without stopping.

Yes I know. What I was refering to is that the current ruling is that when establishing that a square that wasn't selected does not move more squares than the one that was selected it can "move" in a completly different path but it will still be subject to the same rules on movement as the selected square.

Gotcha. I misread your previous post.

Every square of the base has to have a legal path of movement to the square where it ends, and the path to do that cannot exceed the movement of the primary square.
The paths don't have to be anywhere close to one another. You get some wacky situations where one would say that the Batmobile cut itself in half to get where it wanted to go.
Okay, let's go with that hindering example and use New Teen Titans (who do not ignore hindering terrain (we'll assume stature and/or wonder girl faces are not showing). Let's say it is on one of their speed 8 clicks.
If the New Teen Titans (no improve movement ignores hindering) starts in "1-8" can they use their speed of 8 and start square of "1" to move around the "H"indering Terrain to reach "a-h"? (Sorry, I just don't understand if the posters so far are saying I gain improve movement for all of the other 7 squares, or if they are saying I don't gain it)

If counting from square 1, then the team base will have no problem reaching square a.
The team base isn't gaining any improve movement, you're counting as a single base figure from square 1.

I am pretty sure the answer is no. Even if you are moving 1 8 squares, there isn't any way to get the rest of the base there without some of it going through the hindering.
I suspect you already know the answer to this, though.

Assuming that the paths of the other 7 squares are restricted to the same movement as the lead single square, I can't see them being able to complete the movement.
Hopefully this helps demonstrate the 8 square path. For the record, square 0 is "a", square 6 is clear terrain, and square 8 is "a" as well. "h" can only reach "h" by ignoring that hindering terrain, if it has to; otherwise, "h" is only 4 squares away from "h".
You may think I know the answer razzed, but if I did, I wouldn't have started this thread.

The placement would be illegal. "1" can reach "a" but "2" would not be able to reach "b" and so on. And that is even if the TB could move enough squares since "2" would have moved more squares than "1". And none of the base's squares could take the path through the hindering terrain as they would follow the same rules as the square selected and thus be stopped by the hindering terrain.
