I was sorry to see there was no Avalanche including in the WXM set. Here is my take:

Shockwaves: Avalanche may use Quake. When he uses Quake he may also use Precision Strike. All opposing characters within a range of 2 are considered adjacent for the attack and all blocking terrain and objects within a range of 2 are destroyed. Avalanche: Avalanche may use Barrier. Give Avalanche a Range combat action and target all characters within 7 range in a direct line of fire using (Improved Targeting) [IGNORE BLOCKING TERRAIN/DESTROY BLOCKING TERRAIN]. For each hit character, roll a d6 and deal them half the result.
Doesn't really feel like Avalanche, though I like the idea of him attacking everyone in a line.
Lack of range prevents him from using barrier effectively. 18 defense and five clicks of toughness is a bit much. Could maybe use 6 clicks.
I don't think Avalanche really merits precision strike (though the same could be said for half the characters they've given it to) and precision strike already works with quake. You don't need to clarify that unless you don't want him using it without quake.
Not a fan of randomized damage, personally.
I think the unique thing that Avalanche should be able to bring to the table is battlefield manipulation. Attacking everyone in a line is good, as is breaking down terrain. I'd take it a bit further, giving him force blast and a dash of tk (he's been known to toss friends and foes on chunks of rock).

I really like your ideas for Avalanche. Toughness suits him but opening 18 could be a little high. both SPs suit hime well. Hopefully the new confirmed Avalanche (X-Men : Days of Futre Past ) is just as good as this. The Brotherhood will be fun to play again.
