I just got back from a tourney tonight, and it ended in an unusual manner. I had made it to the final round after I got a clean sweep on both of my opponents, and my opponent in the final round had also swept his opponents. We had played until time had run out and not a piece was taken (Mainly because he kept passing and was going turtle army on me) and our armies were both 300 points. I had tried to lure him and gave him opportunities, but I couldn't get him to budge. The judge had allowed us to play in a sudden death overtime where after a half hour still no pieces were taken the judge had just put our names in a hat with everyone else and drew two names. (despite giving my opponent several opportunities to strike me. I was hoping at this point to wait him out since he had to go to the bathroom and he wasn't allowed to leave his chair. He even threatened to go in a cup which would have gotten him kicked out and given me the game. I'm surprised he wasn't thrown out for using so much foul language especially when he was calling me names and other people names) Niether my opponent (thank god) or I recieved an LE and I'm wondering if one of us should have. Someone brought up the question by asking why not put my name and my opponent's name in a hat and the winner of the match and first would be determined through the draw. Is there any type of ruling for this type of situation? If not, what could be done for this type of situation for the two finalists?
I guess it would have come down to a die roll then. Now that I think about it, the LE's weren't that good tonight since it was LE Boom Boom, and one of the LE SWAT officers, but it still would have been nice to have won it since I have huge problem with choking in the final round. It especially happens in DC tourneys when Arthur Curry is on the line. I've had three shots at winning one, and each time I came up short
Both victory points would have ended the same. He had 1200 VP's and I had 1200 VP's and both had the same build total and no one took any pieces. Although while looking at another thread, I noticed something about the ruling about people conceding, and remembered that one of my opponents conceded to me. I thought it said in case of tiebreaker, I would get 1.5 times the army amount of my opponents army which would have given me more points. I'm not absolutely sure on it though.
I was the one that said it was 1.5 times the build total, but in complete honesty, that amount is up to the judge. I said 1.5 because the standard Constructed tournament in Mage Knight is 200 pts and 300 pts was the awarded amount when someone concedes. It stands to reason that it should be 1.5 times the build total, but it is at the judge's discretion.
In my day, we didn't have Heroclix. If you were being attacked by Superman with a 3d dumpster, you just had to hope you could outrun him.
I see. I think it may have been useful tonight since it ended the way it did. I was hoping he would just want to brawl it out, but I should know by now from watching him play my brother and other people playin him that he would look for the cheapest way of winning even if it meant cheating which by the way he has a history of. He's known for not clicking his figs the full amount of clicks dealt. Thanks for helping clear that up.
