With the death trap ability a few question,
1. If the target's defense is outwitted before capture, would it still be able to use it on the escape attempt?
2. Does target get imperv roll when targeted for capture?
3 can vehicles be targeted?
4. Does target have to attempt escape on the next turn or can wait until later in game?

1) * corrected * Yes, the power comes back as characters removed from the map are no longer effected by game effects
2. No impervious roll as you are not dealing damage.
3. Yes, vehicles can be targeted.
4. * corrected * No, it is not optional
Quoting the Jokers Elaborate deathtrap
Quote
ELABORATE DEATHTRAP: Give The Joker a power action to make a close combat attack that deals no damage. Once per game, immediately place a hit character on this character's card. A character on this card can use the Escape Deathtrap ability. ESCAPE DEATHTRAP At the beginning of your turn, roll 2d6. The Joker rolls a d6 and adds his Elaborate Deathtrap Bonus (maximum Bonus 8). If The Joker is friendly, not on the map, or if your result is higher, place this character in your starting area or adjacent to a friendly character. Otherwise, deal this character damage equal to the difference (maximum 5) and when dealt this damage, this character can use its defense powers.

1. death trap isn't the same as the capture ability.

1) Yes. Characters removed from the map are unaffected by game effects so the Outwit would cease to affect the character once placed on the card of the deathtrap user.

2) You'd get to roll impervious if damage was taken from the trap, but not on the trap attempt since no damage is dealt.
3) Yes, there is no criteria for who can be targeted
4) No, there is no option to delay the roll. "Can use" abilities are always on, and since this isn't an action (which are always your option to give your characters) what it says to do must be done (roll the dice for the trap)
After rereading the death trap ability I noticed it doesn't specify that the captured character is released if they fail to escape. Does the character escape if they fail the escape roll and take damage or are they still trapped Until they win the roll ?

So with the max bonus being +8, means to get free, prisoner has to roll at least a 10 or higher or the bat villain has to be ko'd. I think the joker needs to have some fun this weekend.

Correct me if I'm wrong: you can attempt as many Deathtraps until you hit?

The bold+underlined part says that my Deathtrap Trait stops working as soon as a hit character is "trapped"...otherwise, I can keep throwing 'em out?
Thanks!

Yes, nothing restricts the number of times you can take a close combat action to activate Elaborate Deathtrap. You are only restricted on the number of times you can do something productive after hitting.
