RETALIATORY STRIKE: Each time War Machine is targeted with an attack, put a Retaliation token on this card. Give War Machine a free action and remove 2 Retaliation tokens; he then may make a ranged combat attack against a single target
Quote
PULSE WAVE Give this character a ranged combat action even if it is adjacent to an opposing character; the area of effect for this attack is half the character’s range. Draw lines of fire to all other characters within the area of effect, including at least one opposing character; these lines of fire ignore all game effects except for walls, blocking and elevated terrain. Game effects possessed or used by characters with a line of fire drawn to them are ignored until the action has been resolved. If a line of fire is drawn to more than 1 character, this character’s damage value becomes 1 and is locked. Each character hit is dealt damage
I think that the trait Should active, when you draw a LoF that trait trigger, because LoF ignore effects of the game that modify LoF, not effects on characters, then pulse Wave ignore effects during the attack, the trait trigger when is the target of a attack, and this happen when you draw a LoF not during attack

The trait would not trigger because pulse wave ignores it.
Actually, good point Aishugo. It would be more of a timing vs resolve thing. The line of fire is drawn first, then everything is ignored. However, with the new pulse wave, it doesn't require a line of fire... Ok, now I'm a little confused.

Reason: correction
LOF targets. When you draw LOF with PW, it ignores the effects of the characters.
The trait will not activate.

In the pulse Wave step of drawing LoF, i think that the line of fire ignore effects that modify or affect the LoF itself (Hand ata, shape change, stealth, camouflage feat, effects that not allow to target a character in the area of effect ), not the character effects, the character’s effects i think there are ignored after the LoF are draw.
So PW determine AoE, then draw LoF / target (ignoring effects on the LoF), then ignore effects on characters that have LoF

Did you draw a LOF to it? Then its effects are ignored. This includes War Machine's trait.
mmmmmm i think i reply NV before, i think my cellphone don´t upload my post . . .

Pulse Wave While Pulse Wave ignores powers and abilities, it does not counter them. Therefore, terrain created as a result of using a power is considered terrain and affects Pulse Wave normally, even if the character generating that terrain is within range of the Pulse Wave. Characters holding an object due to a feat or power would still be able to hold the object and even use the held object (if it helps defensively).
although PW don't say "can´t use" or "counter them", say that they game effects are ignored. in the same PG says that they still posses and use (opposites of counter an can´t use).
and they gave two example of PW interaction with effects
-they can still use SS to hold the object and still can use effect of the holding object.
-they barrier generated by powers of target characters are still possessed and they barrier terrain markers are not removed from map
although WM prime don´t specify when the token are put on the card, only say "each time" this must be after action resolve or when is began to draw a LoF
