PULSE BOLT TORPEDO: Once per game, give Silver Centurion a power action to put a Torpedo special terrain marker on the map in an adjacent square. When the Torpedo is on this map, you may give Silver Centurion a free action, put an Acceleration token on this card and then move the Torpedo equal to the number of Acceleration tokens on this card as if it were a character with "wing symbol" and Improved Movement: Ignores Characters. At the beginning or end of your turn, if the marker's square is occupied by an opposing character, you must remove the marker from the map and make a close combat attack roll against that character with an attack value of 11 and a damage value equal to the number of Acceleration tokens on this card, maximum 7.
Our judge made a ruling last night that you could perplex the torpedo. I just wanted to get some clarification on this because perplex says that it has to be a target character and the torpedo is a special terrain marker and NOT a character. Any thoughts?
Edit: That means perplexing the Silver Centurion would apply to the torpedo, but you can't directly perplex the torpedo itself, if I recall.
It really isn't up for "debate". The Deputies are checking with GD for intent. However, the rulings are what they are for now. Silver Centurion (SC) is making the attack. The Torpedo attack replaces his values for that attack. Since the rule is Replace then Modify you can perplex/Empower SC prior to the Torpedo attack and it will modify those stats.
Currently any modifiers that apply to SC impact the Torpedo when the attack happens. This is due to the fact that as written the attack is made by SC.
The Torpedo replaces SC's stats for the attack. Modifiers are then applied. So if SC is next to someone with empower and has his attack value perplexed once the Torpedo would have +1 damage and +1 attack on top of its base stats.
This also means that if SC attacks and then the Torpedo explodes on someone the Torpedo gets-1 damage. OR if the Torpedo explodes and then SC attacks someone SC would have -1 damage.

Since when could you perplex a Special Terrain Marker? The only time it's treated as a character is when it's moved.
It's not even a character that's making the attack. It's just a close combat attack roll.

I would argue that there is no close combat attack only a roll to see if it hits. So no, empower would not effect the torpedo.
Also, there is no attack ever made, you just make an close combat roll and add the 11 to it. No where does it state the torpedo is making an attack or that SC is making the attack. Only a roll and then damage is done.

If you read the post above yours Dragon explains it. SC is making the attack, as ruled currently by the oranges, and the 11 AV and the DaV of the torpedo (determined by the # of tokens on it up to 7 for DaV) are replacement values, as currently ruled.
I do expect that to change though.

You can argue, we all can. But currently on the Rules forum an Orange has ruled it other wise. It is a close combat attack, SC is making the attack and the values are replacement values.

I suspect and hope that SC and his Torpedo-trait will soon make it onto the Watch List. Something that you can Perplex and Empower...but you cannot destroy it, and you cannot stop it...yeah, that sounds pretty broken to me. More-so than a lot of other things that got nerfed recently.

If that's the case, and going back to the original post, then the player couldn't have perplexed the torpedo, he would have had to perplex Silver Centurion.

You are right. This is why I included a link to the RA/Orange/Overlord ruling. However, since there's still fervent discussion about this, it's still a "debate".
