Hello there. I come to ask a set of questions to clear things up with my local judge.

1st
When you Mind Control a character with a hammer from the Book of Skull does the new controller get to use the benefits of the hammer and Book if set character was the chosen that turn?

2nd
When a player Mind Controls a character with a relic, does the player get to use the character and the powers of the relic attached?


The reasons I ask is because the Judge ruled that a Mind Controlled character under my opponents control gets the full use of the resource and the relics Such as my Book of Skull and Angrir's Hammer. Thanks for the help. Look forward to seeing the answer.

1. You can't use game effects assigned at the beginning of the game...so No Book but yes Hammer.
2. And yes if it wasn't assigned at the beginning of the game...so I believe for example if you MC The mandarin I believe you wouldn't be able to use the TWO Rings he was assigned at the beginning but rather any that he adds on later.

Here's the entry from the Player's Guide:

A character that is successfully hit by Mind Control cannot use any game elements assigned to it during force construction until the Mind Control action resolves.

So to answer the first question, no you wouldn't be able to use the BotS.

The second question, I'm not 100% on. If you had a hammer dropped from the BotS and had it equipped, I don't think you would be able to because it falls in the same category as before. But, if you had a lone relic assigned, I think you could because the relic was not assigned to a character.
