A perfect Lex dial. He can push worry free and I think that's pretty dope. Token removing, that Outwit/Perplex/Leadership combo top dial, this guy's got it all. Messing with stats, removing tokens and countering powers all the while laughing away at Superman in his hiding bush because he always has stealth and there's nothing those damn aliens can do about it! I really can't see why anyone wouldn't want to spend 100 points on him. Very much a definitive Lex Luthor dial
Seems like a cross between the old Superman Fast Forces and '07 Justice League Lex. Incredible first click. Even without Indomitable and the Trait, he would still be a beast for the points. Great keywords. As much as I love the Legion of Doom costume, I can't stand the sculpt. His face makes him look like an ape that just took a relaxing dump. I'll have to switch the sculpt out with the one from Justice League. Also it annoys me that the stupid JLTB can get past his Stealth. Grr. Pet-peeves aside, this is my favorite Lex in the game, and the best fig in the Fast Forces pack!
I like everything about him except the combination of pulsewave and mastermind.
How about sticking him with the FF Grundy? Pulse Wave, hit everyone for one, including Grundy, hopefully knocking Grundy onto Steal Energy, CCE his attack up by 2, get a very likely hit, and then heal that damage back up and be ready to take a hit for Luthor!
Yeah. Too bad about the wording. It would probably be better stated as something like the following.
"Opposing characters can't ignore the effects of hindering terrain within 4 squares of Lex Luthor."
Much more simple, and expansive as well. That would cover Improved Targeting types and Avengers Initiative as well as anything in between, right?
Except that Lex Luthor is the bane of Superman. His rival, his nemesis. He's thwarting Superman here, not the Avengers, not anyone who can generally see through the darkness. He's specifically irritating and opposing Superman, being true to his comic.
This Lex improves smww017 Superman on Metropolis teams. They can Leadership each other, and LL can Perplex and Mastermind (if this gets you on the click you want) to Supes. Still, this amounts to a lot of not much for 250 unless you are in quite a high-point game.
I don't like how the trait reads. So a Superman ally fig can't ignore hindering when drawing a line of fire to a fig within 4 squares of Lex, but they can ignore hindering when targeting Lex? That looks like how it reads to me.
Win/Loss: 0-1 I really wanted Lex to do well. His perma-stealth lite is neat and he has a great deal of support powers early on - plus wildcard and Indom, which are huge pluses. But as I used him I saw several design flaws. 1) lack of flight means he's being carried vs helping his team. With attack values that low he should be wasting actions moving his pals-esp. W/ the Indom. 2) horrid attack value - so use his wildcard for Batman Enemy. Since they have so few fliers that team-up is huffing into position. 3) the loss of movement and defense powers allows him to be overwhelmed once they get a hit on Lex. 4) pulse-wave doesn't mesh with Mastermind, Wildcard nor leadership. In the end, this Lex's fatal flaw, though, is from 50 points less to 10 points more there are superior Lex Luthors to choose from.
Visible Dials and Pushing Damage need to be optional. This is the way.
Now that PW only does 1 damage, I think that there's less room to complain. I don't think that it affected his cost much, TBH; I think that costing him took into account that it didn't much gel with his other powers. The boot speed symbol used to be desirable, as it allowed him to be carried; now, of course, that's no longer the case. I never had a problem with the printed 9 AV; PX with a 9 is better than a printed 10. Outwit and PW can bypass defense buffs. The Calculator TA allows him to pick up the Batman Enemy or Superman Ally TA's. I don't think that he even needed the second clauses of his Trait and Special Power to be good, TBH. The sculpt definitely needs to be replaced with the BatB or JL version, though. Quite possibly my favorite piece in the set.
