Month 2 is coming up this Sunday. The build follows the WK format: up to 300 pts. modern constructed, with at least one fig from the chosen team's starter (Avengers). Combine that with a sealed booster (Invincible Iron Man) for a total of 400 pts. The only resource that is legal is the Phoenix Force.
Here are a couple of options that I'm entertaining:
ASM 023 Wong 30
FI 021 Dr. Strange 145
AvX 003e Thor 100
Phoenix Force 12
PF Assigned chracter (Thor) 3
Cyclops shard (assigned to Thor) 3
Namor shard (on PF base) 3
Secret Avengers ATA 10
This leaves me 94 pts. to fill with the IIM booster, so hoping for utility piece like Unicorn, Centurius, Brother Grimm or Rescue, or a tie-up piece like Ghost or Puck. I'm leaving the Namor shard on the PF base in order to start out on the second tier with the +1 to attack right away. Wong will buff Strange's DV while using Perplex or Prob every other turn (hopefully to bump or help out Thor).
Second option:
Avx 002e Iron Man 100
IIM 024 Centurius 72
IIM 029 War Machine 125
Phoenix Force 12
PF Assigned chracter (War Machine) 3
Cyclops shard (assigned to War Machine) 3
Namor shard (on PF base) 3
If I can pull a Rescue or Tony Stark or Unicorn (or even a Hammer Industries Drone) from my booster, I'll end up with an Armor theme team. Using the PF in the same fashion here as I would on the first team. Centurius will keep my attackers from having their combat values bumped down while also Perplexing when needed. Later in the game his Outwit should be handy. War Machine's trait (VARIABLE THREAT ADAPTATION: At the beginning of the game, choose a standard power. When an opposing character attacking War Machine can use the chosen power, modify its attack and damage values by -1 for that attack) should help him out some. I would probably choose Willpower as there's quite a bit of Indomitable floating around.
Thoughts?
I didn't go to Harvard or Yale but I can kick a man in the crotch as well as any other.
The second team is better. My mind screams at scenarios like this though because of the "fuzziness" it creates in semi-sealed events when it comes to points.
aqhoffman- greatest post possibly ever
jtallday- Jon I wouldn't challenge you if I wasn't sure you are wrong cuz I don't have that kind of energy.
Does your judge count the Phoenix Force as part of your "sealed?" Because I know at least one of our judges counts it as part of your "constructed," which would make both of your teams illegal.

Our judge has elected to count the PF as neither. As long as the figure total for the constructed portion does not exceed 300 pts., it is legal.

After some remarks made on the venue FB page, I think maybe the judge (who is a bit inexperienced) didn't understand what she was saying when this question was originally posed. So, I have decided to play with the build as if the PF points are taken from the 300 pts. of constructed.

FI 021 Dr. Strange 145
AvX 003e Thor 100
Phoenix Force 12

Cyclops shard (assigned to Thor) 3
Namor shard (on PF base) 3
This team still works if I 86 the Secret Avengers ATA. Point total is 296, and I would still play it the same way.
Another option:
M10 009e Iron Man 125
AVX 001e Captain America 100
CWFF 006r Scarlet Witch 50
Phoenix Force 12
Assigned Character (Captain America) 3
Cyclops shard (assigned to Cap) 3
Namor shard (on PF base) 3
Total - 296
Again, hoping for a decent utility or tie-up piece to fill in the 104 points. Ideally, pulling something like Crossbones (76 pts.) and a Maggia Goon (20 pts.) would be great as it would fill out the points and give me another attacker and a meat shield.
