Black Light
This character can use Smoke Cloud as a free action. Opposing characters that begin their turn in a square with one of these terrain markers placed by this ability modify their speed and range values by -2. This character and adjacent friendly characters can use Stealth if they occupy a square with a terrain marker placed by this ability.
Shadow Lass has this trait:
Absolute Darkness: Shadow Lass can use smoke cloud. Friendly characters that only occupy squares with these markers can't have lines of fire drawn to them, and opposing characters that only occupy these squares can't draw line of fire.
Do the effects of Absolute Darkness trigger off of the Black Light's effects?
Boy, I sure have pissed off a lot of people lately on the interwebs. Sorry to all.
What about calling them "Papillomas?"
No. Each effect is coming from a different source. You normally can't use an effect from an assigned source if you can already use the effect from a non-assigned source.

Really wished this rule would be re-evaluated. So many figures that would be so awesome with a relic/resource but can't do it because the effects of the item can't be used because they already have the power it grants.

OK. Can she use Smoke Cloud twice if she's assigned the Black Light because one grants it's use normally and the other grants it as a free action? I guess this applies to anybody with normal Smoke Cloud. I'm looking for clarification if a character can use a power twice if they are given different types of actions for each use?

No. It doesn't matter how the effect is activated. The "extra source" is treated as if it isn't there unless the character loses the "primary source".

I know Black Light wasn't one of them, but weren't there some relics that let you use the "added effect" even when you already can use the power it gives?
Was Impact Beam one? Do you get the bonuses to knoackback even if you already have Force Blast? I forget and can't find anything.

Impact Beam
This character can use Force Blast. A target is knocked back equal to twice the d6 roll for Force Blast. Knock back damage dealt by this character is increased by 1 and is penetrating.

I'm pretty sure the crazy-combos that can occur is THE reason the rule came to be in the first place.
aqhoffman- greatest post possibly ever
jtallday- Jon I wouldn't challenge you if I wasn't sure you are wrong cuz I don't have that kind of energy.
Pardon me, but I'm getting more confused now. How is it that Lt. Gordon can give adjacent friendlies a move action as a free action and then they can take there own regular move action as a non free action? Doesn't that contradict what the above post says?

Those are two different effects. Lt. Gordon is using his effect to let other characters take a move action for free, and then the character is taking its own move action. It's not actually the same thing as the second move action isn't the same as the effect of granting characters move actions. It's not really a game effect at all.
Now if Lt. Gordon could let an adjacent character use Leap/Climb for free and the character could use Leap/Climb on its own, then it could not use the Leap/Climb granted by Lt. Gordon as each is letting the character use Leap/Climb and the "dial" takes precedence.
