Does removing a resource from play gain you victory points?
Question should be straight forward from the title, searched for this but couldn't find an answer.
Disintegration Beam:
When this character hits an opposing character with a relic or resource assigned to it, or holding an object, and the attack roll is 10 or more, remove that relic, resource or object from the game. When this character hits an opposing character that is 150 points or less, until your next turn, any time the hit character can use Impervious, Invincible or Invulnerability it uses Toughness instead.
If a relic/resource is removed from the game are any victory points scored?

If a relic/resource is removed from the game are any victory points scored?
For relics, definitely. 2014 rulebook page 17:
DETERMINING VICTORY POINTS
Victory points are scored as follows:
Defeated characters. Every opposing character that is defeated during the game earns you a number of victory points equal to its point value.
Objects. Every object on an opponent’s force that is removed from the game earns you a number of victory points equal to its point value.
For resources, not quite sure. 2014 rulebook page 21:
Resources are included in your force’s build total. Although resources may be assigned to a character, it does not change that character’s point value. When assigned to a character, victory points are awarded for the resource in the same way that the character’s victory points are awarded.
I don't really know what this means for this interaction. Points for characters are scored when you defeat the character, so if the defeated character had a resource, you also score that resource. But in this situation the character is not defeated, so there isn't anything telling you that you should score the points of the resource. I'm thinking that by a strict reading you should not score the points for the resource in this interaction.
All resources have special instructions on how their Victory Points are scored.
I'll have to check intent on Disintegration Beam, but simply removing something from the game does grant victory points.

I noticed that all resources have instructions for scoring victory points but as there are very few ways of removing resources it might be that this was not considered when writing them. Also did you mean to say "doesn't" rather than "does" as is seems like you were going to say "doesn't" and I would hate a ruling due to a typo.
I didn't notice the 'removed from the game' for relic scoring, thanks VanisherPunisher.

So, Drain a Ring's Power will grant 2 victory points to the opposing player?
Quote
Drain a Ring's Power - Give a friendly character a free action and remove any one ring from the Power Plant. If you do, that character can either use Outwit or modify all of its combat values by +1, but only for this turn.
