Replacements vs Printed

Okay so Guy was trying to tell me that his character using Batman Enemy TA could copy the value of another Batman Enemy TA character that was 4 away.

So like this:

XXXXXB

When I read the Batman Enemy TA it says: Characters using the Batman Enemy team ability may replace their attack value with the unmodified attack value of an adjacent friendly character using the Batman Enemy team ability.

Unmodified is my thing… So a replacement value is still a modification and not what is printed. Could he actually use the Green Characters numbers for the Red? Seems like that would be a no because it's a replacement which is modifying and not what is printed.

Assuming everyone in that line can use the Batman Enemy team ability, red could use the green guy's attack.

A replacement is not a modifier. (in HeroClix jargon)

Okay, um… so how exactly does this still end up working?

ABCD

B replaces his attack with A's unmodified attack.

C then replaces his attack with the unmodified replacement attack that B got from A.

D then replaces his attack with C's unmodified replacement attack that C got from B.

D then attacks someone using that replacement attack.

In Heroclix, replacement values and modified values are two different things. Modified values are when you add or subtract an amount from the original value, such as with Perplex or Ranged Combat Expert. Replacement values are when you outright replace the value, such as with Batman Enemy TA or Defend.

So Batman Enemy figures can keep passing on a replaced value. However, if one of them had their attack Perplexed up by 1, they would get to receive a replacement value, and add 1 to it, but they wouldn't pass on that +1 to anyone else, just the unmodified replacement value.
