So over on the Facebook group I've joined for Dicemasters, someone in New York found out that Big Lots is carrying Dice Masters.
The person apparently got a poor unknowing clerk to sell him the stuff they had before street, saying it was supposed to come out last week. (dirty pool)
I don't really want to discuss that, but I really just wanted to share that if you live near a Big Lots store, you may be able to find Dice Masters boosters there on Wednesday. (No word on if there were starters)
Interesting. I don't think I've ever seen Big Lots carry anything brand new on the day of release.
It would be nice to have more options on where to find packs though.
I wonder if this has anything to do with the allocation issues I've seen some people mention?
It certainly is possible that a large retail chain wanted in on this, forcing WK to allocate a bunch to that chain, leaving them short for the hobby shops. (Forcing the new print run as well)
It would be a tough choice. Can you imagine if a gigantic chain like Wal-Mart came up sort of at the last minute and said "We really like the price point on this, and want to put it in our hobby/cards section." Would you as WK say no? This is a lot different from Heroclix. Heroclix requires a pretty decent investment to get a good enough collection to really start team building. Once you have a starter of Dice Masters, you have all you need, and those 1 dollar boosters are gravy to new players.
I seriously wouldn't be surprised to see Wal-Mart carry DM. They carry other dice based games in their toy section. Games like Straight Shooters (a great game btw) can be found at Wal-Mart where I have never seen them anywhere else outside GENCON. (Where I got my full set)
It certainly makes me want to case out a bunch of big box retailers on Wednesday to see which ones have it. Big Lots can't be the only one.
I find this amusing because Big Lots is best known for being a close out store and many people see their merchandise as "past its prime" or "yesterday's fads". I wonder if they made some sort of deal that included Dice Masters and all those TabApp figures they now have.
dirt pool sure but the info that came of it may help to balance it out and if you guys have not yet go and join the Dice Master community on FB https://www.facebook.com/groups/548609868585405/ (yes Im the creator but its for the fans)

I used to be a manager at Big Lots, and that is exactly what it was...A close out store that took stuff other stores could not sell and sold it at discounted prices. Hard to believe the would start carrying a something like this the day it hits the market.
Especially since they don't even carry Heroclix or other Wizkids/ NECA merchandise that I am aware of.

I've heard they had TabApps. But that fits into the stuff other stores could not sell category.
