Hey everyone! So I have a question regarding the language of Elaborate Death Trap. For example, the Joker's Elaborate Death Trap trait reads as follows:

"ELABORATE DEATHTRAP: Give The Joker a power action to make a close combat attack that deals no damage. Once per game, immediately place a hit character on this character's card. A character on this card can use the Escape Deathtrap ability."

It is the "immediately place" language that sticks out to me the most. Does this mean that if the attack roll is successful, the hit character does not get an opportunity to evade via Super Senses? Super Senses reads as follows:

When this character is hit by an attack, you may roll a d6 before damage is dealt. On a result of 5 or 6, this character evades the attack.

Reading these two effects together, my ruling would be that a successful attack roll ala Elaborate Death Trap cannot be evaded via Super Senses because the character is "hit" by the roll (as indicated in the language of Super Senses) and "immediately" (suggesting before anything else takes place) placed off the map.

Really need help on this on guys - let me know your thoughts whenever you can!

Your ruling is correct. The immediately supersedes everything. So no SS for EDT. Also can't SS the damage away while on the card, since it's not an attack.

Thanks BatmanAlex000, the insight is much appreciated. Do you have a prior ruling or persuasive precedent on a similar issue? I researched but could not find anything.

A hit is not a hit until Super Senses has been rolled. Or the attacked character's controlling player chooses not to roll.

A successful SS roll turns a hit into a miss. The attack can't be determined as a successful hit if Super Senses hasn't been rolled yet.

The "immediately" just tells you that you can't save the Deathtrap effect for later. You can't strike with the attack, choose to not use the Deathtrap, then spring it at a later time without hitting again. It's use it or lose it.
