So I'm playing a game with my good pals and I had my red hulk #28 next to 2 Alfred's and two batgirls. The batgirls had poisons. At the beginning of my friends turn he used outwit first to outwit his defense then he took two poison killing him. I thought poison was at the beginning of the turn but he claims free actions like poison and outwit go on stack that he can choose can anyone clear this up? Am I wrong lol

First there is no stack. This isn't a TCG
Second, Free Actions can be completed during the beginning of your turn. Otherwise you would never be allowed to use Poison
So your friend is correct. During the beginning of your turn you can use any free actions you want in any order. So you can Outwit and then Poison.

Your friend is correct. Poison does activate at the beginning of your turn, but free actions such as outwit and perplex can also be activated at the beginning of your turn before effects like poison. So it was an entirely legal move to outwit hulks defense and deal poison damage. Keep in mind, however, that the poison would have been dealt as one damage twice since it came from two different characters. This is important be cause if your friend outwitted invulnerability, invincible, or impervious to deal poison damage and a different damage reduced was on the next click hulk wouldn't take the damage then because his defense would no longer be outwitted and the poison would be reduced.
Sidestep and poison are also a nasty combo. You can sidestep and then poison to catch people off guard.
Or do the opposite. I had a nice combo of Side Step, Poison, and Outwit. I would base a close combat beast Outwit the defense, Poison them attack them and then Side Step to safety

Who did you use to pull that off?
I've done it with several different characters. You just need to have a character who has at least one or two parts of the puzzle and then use other game effects to fill in the gaps. I had one team where I used the Phoenix force to grant the Poison and Agent Sitwell to grant the Sidestep. So I had two - three characters all using the poison and then attacking and then side stepping away.
it was very evil. I mixed in Graf Toren to use his Webbing Constructs so that they had break away to try and get back to me one time

I was playing the new Orange Lantern team with LE Larfleeze, Hal Jordan, and 2x Controller constructs. Larfleeze was putting out the little pog guys with sidestep and poison (and they ignore characters for movement!!), controller constructs were on outwit clicks. So I had a turn open like this (all free actions):

You don't need to have everything on a single fig. You could have someone that has Side Step carry over a fig with Poison and then have someone else use Outwit. All of this would take place at the beginning of your turn and all still be free actions.
