As a new player, i keep playing 300 point games (modern/gold), but i was wondering how many points you like the most and how many points are tournaments on your nearest store.
I typically prefer games that are 400 points. Three hundred points is fine too, but the way figures are costed today it makes it so that you can't have as big, or as robust, at team as you could with 400. I also like higher point games, because they allow you actually field teams of powerful characters, rather than a team of street level guys. Nothing wrong with street level Hand or Marvel Knights or Batfamily types, nothing at all. But sometimes you just want to play a few JLAers or solid Avengers types..
At home, we play 4 player 400-800pts affairs. My venue is more geared for 300-600pt games and usually has a cool theme like Dogfight (all fliers) or Theme Scheme (All teams must be named theme teams.)
500-1000 depending on what comic-accurate themed team I am running. I also have a few teams in the 1200 point range. With anything about 500 points or higher, I like to keep it to 5 actions per turn (not including made Leadership rolls or free actions). Just facilitates faster paced game, IMHO.
1/6th of the Brothers Prob. '19-'20 Season: 15-13(8 events) 2 wins, 2nd XDPS PR 9-7, 7th SOC
600 tops for anything "competetive", though I would prefer 300-400. I wouldn't even mind 200 once in a while, just to change things up.
If it's just a fun game over at a friend's house, then we usually have 4-6 of us on one big map (and by that I mean a couple of maps side-by-side) and point build doesn't matter. We aren't going to build anything too abusive, anyway.
I like 500-600pt games. Me and a couple buddies like playing BIG games at home anywhere from 1000 all the way up to 2000pts. We did play a couple 3000pt games when shrine thanos came out. But those games take a long time and it's usually a all day event
400 or 500 I think I like the most. Enough points that I can feel like I'm actually fielding a "team" and not just a 2-3 figures, but not so large that it becomes unwieldy and the real stupid power combos start coming out.
The more it's based on just figures, the better, and I want nothing to do with restrictions based on how old a figure is.
Most of my comicky themed type teams come in at about 400 or so, but my favourite are the 200 point "Comic Team-Up" games with 2-3 figures per team. There are so many different things going on with various abilities and whatnot that it's nice to have *less* to keep track of.

When building teams, I end up almost always building something around 500-600 points. Personally, I like 600 points a lot, but I find that you can too easily have everything you want at 600 points, whereas at 500 points, you have to give up something, so 500 points is probably "better" than 600 points, but not as much fun.
