I am trying to figure out what will be the most "ideal" team and frag Assignment...
Ive been playing PF only for about a month, but I just can't help with thinking that pf is "win more" resource..(I know I might not be thinking it right)
So here was my logic based on my experience and mental HC
1. IF you use PF for OMA or a tentpole team, then you are using +30pt on your main attacker. IF so, for the first click, it gives you TK, Invuln, and +1 speed.... + a shard, but Emma and Colossus ones are useless (cuz the PF gave them to your main guy)....so you got RCE, ranged mystic(probably my choice) and.....defend? lol
but even more problem I see is that your main guy (especially if you are using OMA type team) should have invuln or better (like impervious, or invincible).....to begine with.....and your main guys wanted "to be TKed" not tking your support piece...
so you just sunk 30pt for +2 ..and maybe RCE...
It certainly gets better as you KO someone or lucky to get double, but to get to that dreadful +2 all stat dial, you need to KO two fig (or get super lucky).
Yes, your main guy is now even more powerful with that +2 all stats...but here's the thing --> by that time you should be winning anyway, becuase getting to +2 means you finished their 2 figs with your main guy standing tall...or at least for me that was the case. Most of time I used PF on a tentpole team and play keep thinking I was probably better off with belt and make this game quicker...
2. If you use it on 2
Giving away 2 frags put you on ranged combat mode of PF....
RS, EE, and +1dmg...looks great! but the problem is the same thing...
Cha. worth putting PF shard will probably (and should) RS...
and this is the dial I actually don't wanna swtich, cuz I don't think 2nd dial of this group is that useful, and now you have to kill "3" or get SUPER lucky to get that +2 all stat.
3. use it on 3 cha.
Now it is a close combat mode....but the same problem with the above. all the melee cha. you are using should have charge...and blade...
While I love BFC, I have a very mixed feeling about this. it's great when you hit 6! but when you hit 1....well
5. use it 4+ fig.
I don't know if that is ever worth trying for the point wise... my venuse usually only plays 300 and 400 so didn't try this much yet (as most figs would be like 50pt wish).... but don't think it is worth it.
I know that Weaponer just top 8ed with PF on him.....and love to see/read how he used it...but I just don't know if PF is that useful...?
What's your guys opinion and what's the best team to abuse it?
the way I see it, is that you have to find a good attacker whose Defense ability is either super sense, CR or ED/D w/o RCE....but long range?

but....Bullseye is better with the belt or the plant....isn't he?
One thing to point out is that the Phoenix Force is very adaptable - you don't have to play a OMA to only assign one character. You could assign it to one character in the 100-150 range and enjoy the benefits you describe while still having plenty of support on the team (or a secondary attacker - but then you'd probably want to assign it to both, yes?).
It's a great resource, but it's definitely finesse, no question, and requires the right team build to make it shine.
That said, it's pretty awesome with Bizarro at big points (not really finesse at all)

1. PF is an awesome resource: its been on many teams that have done well.
2. With a one man army PF can work just fine: as you pointed out, when assigning this resource to just one figure with all shards attached on your first click you will have tk and invun shards being given the shaft as it were sense you get tk and invun on the dial.
That is very true. However, you can only select one shard that is still attached to use once per turn, so depending on how you look at it this could be a good thing. I know every time I've played the resource in this way I assign the mystic shard, it's sort of a no brainer decision unless your tent pole is a mystic for the reasons you listed. So that leaves RCE and defenders shard to choose from. Sort of works out to have invun and back up invun in my opinion. And the main thing about that is you're paying a cost to make your resource better. Take the bat belt for instance, with 5+ items attached you get added bonuses, however it is true you can't use all 5 items simultaneously. Similar situation with the PF.
Also you skipped over (not saying that was a short explanation)what happens as you turn the dial and focused on how many kills it takes to get to the +2 to everything slot.
So let's look at that:
With 1 kill or lucky lucky roll you will advance the dial to a click that gives force blast (vastly underrated power) +2 attack invincible and enhancement.
Here your tk shard just became viable as a selection again.
As did invun though with invincible maybe not your best choice. Still situationally advantageous.
RCE still a decent pick if u have range...
And defenders x-men avengers shard. You lol at it but I personally love the idea of sharingy defense or being healed(even while adjacent to opossing figures) and .. OK well with a one or two person team avengers is kinda waisted... But you could use a 40 point jean Grey to tk out your tent pole and then namor shard/x-men to heal later.
Next kill or lucky roll and you're on the +2. Granted your opponent will probably be decimated before you get to the +3 that's another two clicks down the dial but if you get to it the +3 is well worth the added few points to attach extra shards when playing it in this way if you have the points to do so.
3.(wow that was a long 2) using the PF on 4 smaller characters works better than u seemed to be giving it credit for: shatterstar shatterstar agent 13 and a destiny. Leave invun on the PF. Give it a whirl.
4. Just because bullseye hasn't won a tournament lately with the PF on him doesn't mean it's a bad idea. Sounds viable to me.
The PF is a complicated resource. It has an array of manors in which it can be used. My personal favorite it using it with shrinking violet to share the defense via the namor shard.
Got a couple of ROC top 8 hats using that liltle trick. I've seen some interesting combos using the PF. It's not as straight foward as: do this get a plus to stats, like some resources, but it does give the advantage of giving powers & stat boost more consistantly.
