Help to build an Avenger or X-Men Team 300-400 points!
Hi people,
I'm really new to Heroclix and actually I got the Blackest Night Starter set to play with my friends.
This is only an starter set, so they kinda crushed me and I want a pay back! lol.
Well I'm a huge fan of Wolverine, and I got my hands on the bad*ss FI Wolverine #031 which I love for the revert ability it has and his awesome sculpt. As a counterpart to it, I got the WX Wolverine 001. I know that the tapapp is really great also, but I just hate his sculpt.
Here is where I need help:
I really want to use this piece right there, he has a Point value of 130, which looks like it is high for 300 team, so I don't know if you guys think it will be better to build a 400 point team.
Also, since the FI Wolverine has in his keywords the Avengers and X-Men, I wanted to ask you if he can use their TA. Also the other Wolverine has the X-Men icon, so I don't if it will be best for me to build a X-Men team.
I really need help from you guys, because I don't know which other characters will be good to use, I have read that you must try to have in your team pieces with Perplex, Leadership, Probability Control and outwith, but I have search like an idiot for good pieces and I cant decided which team I should try to get, and Im really looking for some good synergy.
I know that there are a lot of other stuffs, like relics, or some Protector cards that you can use, all seems like advance player thingy, but Im open to all sorts of recommendations. The only must use in this team I want is: FI Wolverine lol.
All the help that you can provide me will be really useful, and I promised you guys that my road to revenge against my friends is near!!! Buahahaha... Ahem... Thanks again guys.
wolverine 130
nightcrawler 80 (from days of future past set)
blink 86 (from deadpool)
=296
i used a similar team, though had 130 wolverine from days of future past- that model is quite silly good but i can see the FI doing just about as good. can add any number of good x-men for 104 points-
cyclops from avx starter
emma frost from avx starter
colossus from days of future past (also a 100pt one from wolverine set)
banshee (though is a super rare, but can still pull from boosters on the shelf)
I can see me using Iron Man if I decide for avengers.
And as for the X-Men side, damn... That Nightcrawler and Blink combo rocks...
I also saw in another threat some guys talking about the Scarlet Witch. The IC Scarlet Witch #105 which is only 40 points has PC in all her dials and only that. This one looks cool as well, or it will be better to choose the AV Scarlet Witch #57 35 points with PC in her first 3 dials and can flight?

This.
I've used these pieces a lot and they are amazing. Honestly, as a fellow Wolverine fan, I would say you should do yourself the favor of getting the DoFP #013 Wolverine. He is the best regular Wolverine IMO. Also with this team you could swap out Blink for Longshot (From WatX) and add a Bat Belt to Nightcrawler for range and tons of pain.
I didn't reply back during this time because I was investigating and getting the pieces, but this is what I was able to get:
Blink #048 86 points
Nightcrawler #009 80 points
Longshot #009 75 points
Book of the Skull with 6 hammers 24 points
Wolverine #031 130 points
Total 395 points
What do yo think about it?
Personally, for 130 points on an X-Men team, I'm more of a fan of the DoFP Wolverine. Harder to hit up closer with CR, has a leg up on FI Wolvie because this one can not only move & attack first click with Charge but also has Flurry/Blades to dish out damage. Plus DoFP Wolvie gives you better top dial healing potential. And with the X-Men TA, he gives you a healing battery for other figures in a pinch.
The team you posted looks solid, but a max range of five (Longshot) could make it vulnerable to teams who can hit from a distance. Some good ranged Modern Age X-Men pieces to consider getting include DOFP021 Storm, DP051 Banshee, AVX009 Cyclops, and M10A021 Dark Phoenix. Banshee is the cheapest of that list, and his ability to nerf opposing Super Senses and damage reducers within six squares would help your close combat pieces, but you'd have to sacrifice from the current team to fit him in, obviously.
I think the 130 FI Wolvie works better for Avengers teams, as the only two real alternatives would be the AvX starter at varying point values or the WatX gravity feed Wolverine, both of which are solid pieces as well. If you're looking for other good Avengers characters to pair him with, 10th Anniversary Iron Man is always good, I also think im3001r Iron Man Mk 7 @ 75 pts is pretty efficient. I'd love to see him played w/ a White Power Battery so he can be stopped on that final click w/ 12 attack for 4 damage. Surprise! Really, any of the AvX starters are solid to reach for. I think the common or starter set movie Cap from Winter Soldier are both viable pieces. I like both of the FI Iron Fists on paper but haven't had the opportunity to play them.
I definitely see your point about DoFP Wolverine, his special movement ability indeed rocks, but yo gotta admit that FI Wolverine looks better, and can transform!!! XD
However, now that I'm getting involve with all the meta of the game is, DoFP is way better to destroy and conquer.
And also when I was playing I notice the fact that I have to get close, really close to destroy, but with the running shot hammers, kinda helped me out.
I'm also trying to get my hands on a Dark Phoenix, she is awesome by the way, but I might use her in a high level game.
As for the Avengers side thing, I might need more help there, I haven't found yet a good support piece.
Yeah, I hear ya. There are only 24 Modern Day pieces with the Avengers keyword that are under 100 points. Used to be easy to reach for a low point good support piece for an Avengers team, but now it's a bit trickier.
Here are some sub-100 point pieces I like, YMMV...
catws102 Black Widow: 75 points, Outwit & traited Stealth top dial. So park her in hindering and someone has to come to her. When they do, she has combat reflexes and is a 19 to hit close combat. SHIELD team ability to boot.
wxm062 Beast: I'm cheating since he's primarily an X-Man, but has the Avengers keyword. Good tie-up secondary attacker w/ Outwit on 2/3 of his clicks if you choose it.
m10a002 Hulk: I really like this figure for the points. Starts with Stealth and Outwit, typical Banner first click. Then gets brutal as you go. Can promote to Worldbreaker, so there's that too.
im3006 Tony Stark: Ignores hindering terrain, top dial Willpower, Enhancement, and Outwit.
im3001r Iron Man Mk 7: I don't know that I'd call him a support piece, but for 75 points, you'd be fielding an Iron Man with 10 AV 4 DMG w/ Indomitable and Impervious. Short dial, but there are ways around that...
If you're willing to 100 points or more for a support-like piece, then avx006 Scarlet Witch is obviously a great choice. asm008 Doctor Druid has nearly a full dial of either Prob or Outwit w/ Mystics protection. His prime counterpart doesn't have the Avengers keyword, but asm017a Dr. Voodoo does and offers Perplex/Support then Prob, and can provide situational whole-team penetrating.
Something like this...
75 CATWS102 Black Widow
100 AVX006E Scarlet Witch
130 FI031 Wolverine
75 IM3001R Iron Man Mk 7
2 WOLR101 Power Battery (White Lantern Corps)
6 WOLR301 White Lantern Ring
10 WOLR201.05 Crossbow (White)
Total: 398
...gives you some interesting possibilities. Throw the Crossbow on Iron Man to give him RCE to boost either attack or damage or both even more. You could put two into one thing and then Perplex the other w/ SW, and then Prob on the off chance he misses. Giving Iron Man the white crossbow with the white lantern and ring also gives him a stop click and Regen, which helps protect against the short dial. It also helps that SW can use Support to keep Tony near top dial. And Tony can heal the rest of the team if they're within six squares due to White Lantern emotional spectrum.
Don't know how good it would be, but it includes FI Wolvie and gives you some options to think about.
Thats good stuff over there, it might take me a while to get the white Power Battery things but still looks like its going to be worth it.
As per the characters they all look good pieces and I will start working on getting them as soon as I get the pay check. lol
Going back at the beginning of this threat, I won a bet against my friends the other day (an Iron Man booster), they didn't believed that I can win a game against them. In the booster I got the Tony Stark and a Mandarin Ring. XD Pay Back baby!
But I think in the future I will leave the IF Wolverine with the Avengers, and my new Dark Phoenix with the X-Mens, but I have to change the whole team.
Thanks people, at the end we got revenge, and it was sweat!
