While we are getting the umpteenth version of Spider-Man and Wolverine, there are still oh so many more or less popular characters out there that are still waiting impatiently for their Heroclix debut. In this edition of Unclixed, we cover the frequent foe of the jade giant with Tyrannus!
Introduced all the way back in 1963's Incredible Hulk #5, Tyrannus was a sorcerer/scientist from the Roman Empire who took to an underground civilization where he drank from the fountain of youth and started experimenting with Deviant technology. Once the present day rolled around, he set about attempting to take over the world!
Like most villains, he'd be frequently thwarted, in most instances by Hulk. But if Tyrannus had another nemesis, it would be the other ruler of the underworld kingdoms, The Mole Man. The two would have what could best be described as an adversarial relationship. And on the subject of relationships, Tyrannus definitely has a thing for Betty Banner (nee Ross). He tried seducing her in his first appearance, but it wasn't until a couple years ago that he sealed the deal with her when she became Red She-Hulk.
Out of context, Tyrannus' designs for Bruce seem a lot worse than they probably were.
Why clix him? Well, Hulk's rogues gallery is somewhat underrepresented. Sure we have brutes and monsters aplenty, but the Hulk's enemies that were a bit on the smarter side are scarce. And Leader shouldn't be the only schemer out there to face Hulk.
Tyrannus' motivational skills left a lot to be desired.
Who would he play with? Moloids! He's one of the rulers of Subterrania. Sadly, they're about it. The only other characters he really worked with were Ghaur and Llyra, but that was at a point where Tyrannus and Abomination had essentially switched bodies.
What would his dial look like? First off, enjoy this guy on your generic keyword teams. Between Ruler, Scientist and maybe Mystical (this one might not be as likely given his dubious standing as a sorcerer) you'll be keeping it pretty simple with the teams this guy is a part of. He could probably also get improved movement where he ignores blocking terrain representing how he's coming up from the underground. As for powers...
Various psionic abilities (Mind Control and/or Penetrating/Psychic Blast)
Draining the life force of others (Steal Energy)
Scientific genius (Perplex and/or Outwit)
Leader of Subterrania (Leadership)
Immortality (Regeneration)
So what would your idea of a dial for Tyrannus look like, folks? Feel free to reply as that's it for this edition of Unclixed! Be here next week for an all new Marvel edition of Comic Accurate! And in two weeks, Unclixed will be back with a someone fantastic!
(2) His version of "Moloids" were "Tyrranoids", and looked a little different. I think they were a little stronger than run-of-the-mill Moloids as well. Moloids tend to get represented as weaker than humans, but quick. Tyrranoids looked... "blockier", more muscular.
Would like to see Tyrannus, Tyrranoids (as a clix and a keyword), more Moloids (as clix, and as a keyword).
Fool, Idiot, Loser, Moron, Misfit, Schmoe.
Progressive-Centrist Republican, Deist.
Trying to be useful, expecting to be fired.
I support the making of Tyrannus 100%. This character has long been on my want list of unmade figures as having owned and read many of his exploits against old jade jaws. Anyone else for the Hulk to SMASH makes great fodder in my opinion.
Yes. We need more Hulk Villains and Tyrannus is a must. Thanks for featuring him.
Would also like to see the following made and remade soon:
Agamemnon; Glob; Captain Axis; Devastator; Lazarus; Missing Link; Cobalt Man; Trauma; Ravage; Minotaures (Hulk defended Uatu many times from these creatures), and remakes of Zzzax; Apocalypse (non-Colossal); Onslaught (no-colossal); Radioactive Man; Abomination (original version on the cover of Hulk #159 Jan 1973); The Thing (classic matchup of strength in the Marvel Universe); Executioner; Sub-Mariner; Maestro; King Miek; and Diablo.
Also, the more new Marvel and DC Characters we have in Clix form the better, since it brings more variety, fascination, and options to the game. I mean Card Games like Magic, can make an endless amount of characters. There are a great many more Marvel and DC characters that have not yet been made into a Heroclix figure, many I would love to see made. If they can all have as nice of Sculpts as CW Chaos King or JL52 Deathstroke I would be elated.

I could see them introduce a "Subterania" keyword for him and then apply it to Moleman and his minions going forward as well as any other underground dwellers.
Could have the Horn of Proteus http://marvel.wikia.com/Horn_of_Proteus as a Relic.
Give it something similar to Black Lantern Aquamans ability to summon Sharks.
Quote
SUMMON THE UNDEAD SHARKS: Once per game, give Aquaman a power action and place up to 4 Undead Shark bystander tokens as described on this card, each adjacent to different opposing characters within range. Add 2 to your action total this turn.
I would make so that you could summon one as a Power action and it wouldn't be "Once per game". I do like the "BEACHED: At the end of your turn, KO this character if it doesn't occupy water terrain." on the Sharks though.
