I have gone on record as saying many times, there is no reason to make you flying figs soar, ever, at all, period.<-(redundant period.)
so even i can be wrong. according to the FAQ a soaring char cannot be adjacent to a grounded figure, so, concivably, a soaring charecter dosen't have to stop when entering a space ajacent to an opposing figure, meaning that you can soar around a group you opponent has and attack that injured char he put in the back.
i however haven't come into the situation in which i'd ever need to do this, except a few times on the indoor map, where i can't soar anyway....hmmmm.
so with great conviction i will ammend my previous mantra
"There is(almost) NO reason to Soar, ever, at all, period.<-(redundant period.)
if you are in b2b contact with your opponent and you have a flying fig, you can just soar instead of trying to make a breakaway roll. then if you also have a fig that you carried with the flying fig and he is still next to the soaring fig, that character does not need to make a breakaway roll either. so soaring does have it uses.

You can't soar and taxi at all. The rules says something like you must be in hover mode when you pick them up and in hover mode whenyou land. I am not sure of this though so dont quote me....;-)

You can go into soaring while carrying them, but must go back to hovering, lest you drop them from yon height and crack their skulls.

right, you do have to be in hover mode to pick them up and land, you cant be in soar mode with someone being carried.
but; what's to stop you from being hover mode in the beginning of your turn. you have a move of 10 pick up, say wolverine, soar (1 move) move 8 (now at 9) drop back down (move 1- now at 10) putting wolverine next to a medic, to slice and dice. i havent noticed anything that says you cant do that....

Okay... changing elevations is considered moving and to move when in B2B with an opponent you need to roll break away unless you have a power that overrides that like Phasing. As for taxing, you can soar while taxing. You only have to start in hovering adjacent to your other figure, but you can switch to soaring while taxing as long as you end your turn back down in hovering to drop off your guy. Just remember that it costs 1 point of movement to change from hovering to soaring.

Technincally, the rules state that you can only change elevations while you are taking a move action - not that chaning elevations is a move action. Just like you can only pick stuff up with SS during a move action, but picking something up isn't a move action in and of itself. It's just a little tiny nitpicky detail in the wording, but it might make a difference to somebody

Well technically, since it takes a point of movement to change from hovering to soaring, you are moving. And I didn't say that changing elevations was a move action, I said it was considering moving. And when you want to move while in B2B with an opponent you have to roll breakaway. There really is no nitpicking of the wording.

What if you drop them on the enemy? Can you roll to see if they do any damage to your opponent?
