SNIPER'S NEST: Once per game, give Winter Soldier a power action, place three Sniper's Nest terrain markers on the map, and place Winter Soldier in one of these squares. When he occupies one of these markers, he can use Ranged Combat Expert, lines of fire can't be drawn to him, and he may not be given actions except power actions to use Ranged Combat Expert. Once per turn, you may place Winter Soldier in the square of a different one of his Sniper's Nest markers. When an opposing character becomes adjacent to one of these markers, roll a d6 that can't be rerolled. On a result of 1 or 2, place Winter Soldier in the square of a different one of his Sniper's Nest markers. On a 3-6, remove the marker and, if Winter Soldier occupies that square, place him in another of his Sniper's Nest markers if there is one on the map.
So who would have to be adjacent to what? Does the opponent have to be adjacent to these markers or do the markers need to be adjacent to the opponent?
Giant reach reads:
Quote
This character ignores opposing characters’ Plasticity and adds 1 to its d6 roll when breaking away. This character can use the Carry ability. When this character is given an action that includes a close combat attack, all squares within a range of 2 and line of fire are considered adjacent. This ability can’t be countered.
Shuma Gorath reads:
Quote
Shuma-Gorath can use Flurry and Plasticity. When this character is given an action that includes a close combat attack, all squares within a range of 5 and line of fire are considered adjacent.
So how would these abilities apply with Winter Soldiers trait?
I don't think there will be an interaction. The Giant reach ability and Shuma's power both specify that they apply when an attack is made and the part of Sniper's nest that you are asking about does not seem to involve an attack so I don't see where they will cross paths.

This is correct. In order to be considered adjacent, you must be in the next square. Giant reach only give you the ability to attack as if you were adjacent to a figure 2 squares away.

Thats strange. But as you guys were saying, you said there would be no interaction between the two? Because the ruling for the Snipers Nest says that they need a clear line of fire, and both abilities require a clear line of fire, but they require a clear line of fire to the square, not the character. So would Shuma be able to attack the Winter Solder?

I don't think we were talking about lof. The glaring disqualifier here is that these extended reaches only apply during an attack and the Nest power activates when an opposing becomes adjacent which would happen during movement. Even in a move and attack they don't happen at exactly the same time.
I just want to know if I can attack winter soldier. None of the things that you guys have been explaining if I could attack or not. I don't get what it means you just explain whether or not line of fire comes in to play and adjacency.
In our answers, lets just put a "Yes" or a "No" after our explanation, because I'm having trouble understanding.

If that is what you wanted to know, then that is what you should have asked. Read your op and then see that you got exactly what you asked for. Nowhere before now did you ask about anyone's ability to attack.

A character 2 squares away won't activate SN. That has nothing to do with anyone's ability to attack anyone else. These are 2 separate issues.

You forgot the yes or no. Kidding with you of course.
As for the attack part of the discussion, Giant Reach draws LoF to squares not characters.

Yep, just like Shuma @ 5-Range; Giant Reach and long tentacles are both excellent Stealth Busters !! That's why it is nice for characters with Stealth to also have Combat Reflexes....
