Okay, so I'm considering these guys as a two-piece for an upcoming ROC:
Kyle Rayner + Wall Construct
Dark Flash
Comes out to an even 300. Kyle carries Dark Flash into position (breaking any pacts), perplexes up some D and puts up barrier. Next turn you can start doling out the hurt.
My big worry is map choice. My understanding is that the "Ocean Depths" orange text is ignored on maps like FI Pacific Ocean. So basically anyone who doesn't fly/swim/ignore hindering is gimped on that map, right? My speedster would be stuck at half-speed, which is not great.
Do you guys think that Kyle and Dark Flash are a potent enough force to lose map roll and still come out ahead? Or is Dark Flash too one-dimensional?
I do not think this team would work in a ROC. You have no prob control and too many maps hurt you. Your limited range also doesn't help and you can't really deal with stealth.
I've seen more then a few Roc teams built around 3-4 attackers and ultra high defenses as they're prepping for Super Skrull and Kyle. You can't deal with that as is.
My advice is to pick one of these pieces and build around them, but not both.

I really appreciate the feedback. You're right on all accounts.
I have some "meta" pieces, but I'm trying to work out an edge by bringing something a little different. Like, I have Super Skrull and Brother Voodoo, I could bring those guys... I have Captain Marvel and Harley... I just don't have a team I can call my own, yet.

You can't just toss good pieces on a team and expect it to work. You need to have a strategy and an overlying goal with the team.
You say you want to throw pieces on because they are "meta" but what role do they fill on the team? Are they an attacker? Support? Will they dictate positioning? Or you heard they are good and want to use them?
This sounds harsh but it's not meant to be. It's just the honest truth. I'd recommend looking at the last few top 8's to get an idea of what you might see and build something you think could handle them. Then PLAYTEST. I helped a friend of mine build something not too long ago and on paper we liked it a bit, but it fell apart when we playtested it.

Yeah, I haven't had a chance to playtest for the ROC. Like, at all. I play at a couple casual local venues and that's it. I've looked at as many recent results as I could find, though... So I have some idea of what is winning, just not exactly what they do when fielded. I can make a guess, but that's no substitute for playtesting.
