So what does everyone think of this, it seems like an awfully slow resource to use for its max points (40) especially on a 300 pt build let alone multiplayer matches.
Personally, I believe the box is great. What's that, you're making a ranged combat attack against me, that's cute, honey, but I have energy/shield deflection. The box may be slow, but it pays off. I still rather have the book or a battery though in a 300 point game.
And so he left, with terrible power in shaking hands.
It is excellent in granting you lots and lots of powers but no stat boosts and you're basically always leaving behind one figure so you need a flyer to carry him around unless you want to just sit in your starting area
Mind controlling your own figures to do the power action is the only way I can see it being a viable option... any other thoughts? I really like this resource so I want to brainstorm with others about it.
What both the Box and the Rock of Eternity do, is allow you to plan exactly how to enhance your character(s).
Pandora Box's grants the assigned Sin effects, plus a random active/passive power.
The Rock of Eternity adjusts the enhancement of your Champion based on the number of action tokens it possesses.
Many players dismiss one or both because they are solely focused on maximizing the effects of both. Think of each as a more reliable-- and properly-costed-- Utility Belt.
The final power seems a bit impossible to pull off unless it's an insanely large game. You need to bank of the fact you can power action one of your figures in each of 7 turns, and that they DO NOT die, because if they do you're already a turn behind.
It actually seems nearly impossible unless you're playing a multiplayer game and someone is merely ignoring you.
CW Morgan le Fay & Ant-man were retired a week after the Magik shard was released or I think we would have seen an ROC w/ those two and a full PF (starting RS and Defend to two users) and lots of options. Lydea Mallor, pre-errata and the versatility of Bizarro+BoS, pre-errata, kept its use down until the Batteries came out. 10th IM didn't help either. There may be a window now, but any 1 entity is cheaper, and less variable, than the full PF (30pts) on 1 piece... and for that matter so can the Power Plant.
All that said I still think the PF is the best use of 33-39 pts, especially w/ Mallor's decline. However, a team in the spirit of "Five M-11s" like my "Four 001a The Flash" probably gains a little more from a 26-40pt Blue Lantern that can put a Construct that grants Perplex on each one than the Charge/Toughness/+1att (and say Invulnerable) the force granted for 39pts. Then again the PF also is giving them Poison & Flight and one gets TK (Catapult would be a whole 10 of your 40) while another gets ranged Mystics, but Cyclops & Namor do less though...
On a 3-piece team leaving Colossus & Namor(X-men TA) on the PF and getting the +1def at game start can be huge.
I tend to trust the META players that go bonkers though and as such min/max must get more our of a Lantern's Ring & Battery powers than the Poison & Flight.
back to the thread's topic:
Pandora's Box, IMHO, is only worth it as a 20pt Resource because the 2nd slot on the either/or d6 roll is best (on any of them, but mainly Hunter & Ravager). At 16 you're playing Manipulator and hoping you get TK when you want it & Inv when you need it... However both give you 1 or 2 uses of ESD or CR and another something and that's where the money is worth the 16 or 20pts.
Rock of Eternity is the same idea: 16pts. You put Cunning on your main attacker or Mighty on your utility piece. Versus a 16 point Battery you'd get Indigo (support & range lock) w/ a Catapult (TK) vs. TK, ESD, Sidestep, "something else" OR Yellow (neg. perplex, defensive bonus) w/ Decoy & Mallet (SSenses & Quake) vs. EE, then PS, ESD, Sidestep from Greed (10 range neg. perplex) plus bonuses. Both scenarios at least match what non-Ion Entities grant you at 25pts.
To paraphrase Spider-Ham: a more balanced Utility Belt.
I've yet to play with the box/rock still need two sins and a better understanding if it lol. From what I see its best with characters that have reducers where as the PF was great with characters that had ESD/cr/as etc.
Back to off topic
PF was great vs m10 iron man. Poison triggers his ability... Its damage from a character assigned a resource. Had a high father team with it. He ran full point m10im... Never attacked him and won. I think the replacement from TW is worded the same way..
CW Lydea Mallor, pre-errata and the versatility of Bizarro+BoS, pre-errata, kept its use down until the Batteries came out. 10th IM didn't help either. .
I played the full box with:
150FFJLTW001E Ultraman
25 FFJLTW007 Atomica
82 JLTW043 Johnny Quick
297
It was beautiful. unoutwittable ES/D and CR on Atomica with her plasticity kept my targets in place for the other guys. Plus the abundance of PC through CSA and TT was incredible. Sloth on Johnny Quick to heal from his "WHAT A RUSH!" when he was clearing.

Reason: missing word
They're not my team, but if you want to understand football and feelings, watch this: http://youtu.be/xx0Ru_1zPVk
If Lydea goes second she can't steal because her power doesn't go off till she is placed (or some such).
Bizarro may only put tokens back on w/ Support, so Steal Energy and (I'm 99% on this) Indigo Lantern powers can no longer abuse him. He also can only be played up to 150pts now, I believe.
People whose teams relied heavily on abusing Colossus would have to reconstruct the assigned Shards or fear losing him vs. Lydea. On the other hand:
Bizarro+Angrir's Hammer made the BoS more tournament viable and since M10th Iron Man worked against both Resourses, Bizarro was one of the builds that faired better against it. Also Bizarro at 250, Splitlip at 20, a book w/ 1 hammer was doing well. If not that then you had the benefit of Lydea having the Monster keyword and Black Hand used to share all his keywords, so both LM & Biz had more variety for theme teams.
Of course IIM and War of Light shifted things leading up to last year's Gencon and that's why (if memory serves) there was only 1 Copycat+New Mutants TB and 1 or 2 Bizarro teams in the top 16. It was a good year for variety though. Had I gone I'd have built an expensive team (PF Colossus at 150, Dark Phoenix at 100, & 2 Entities; Predator & Entity likely), but I never did a lot of play-testing (though I lived near-ish to the guy that came in second) to confirm it was as strong as it looked on paper.
THE GROWING DARKNESS: At the beginning of the game for all friendly characters with this trait, you may remove one attached game element from an opponent's resource and, if it is a relic, assign it to a character with this trait. At the beginning of your turn, roll 2d6 for all friendly characters with this trait. If the result is lower than the sum total of all of these characters' click numbers, then modify all opposing characters' combat values by -1 until your next turn.
No it happens at the beginning of the game and I cant find anywhere where going second does not allow her to steal at all. Maybe your referencing how she cant steal from the power battery unless she goes second?
This is why I don't play competitively anymore. Wizkids refuses (not "can't" but out and out refuses) to get their 'blank' together and its soooo frustrating! Every written language has RULES! Streamline your game already.
