This Cap is amazing. I used an Avengers team to take on the Skrulls and he seemed unaffected by Shape Change. He took out 5 Skrulls by himself before being KO'd. Well worth every point.
Love this version of Cap. Traited ESD is nice, especially when combined with toughness. Improved Targeting is a nice addition along with the precision strike and high attack values. Also, I love the Invaders keyword....but there are so many Modern Age Captain Americas with this keyword and no one else. Very much looking forward to finally getting some modern age invaders in the Nick Fury S.H.I.E.L.D. set!
Should have been 130pts...to have an even 600pt Avengers Prime vs JL Trinity, but oh well.
If you are getting hot Leadership rolls with the rest of your team, this Cap could be cleared every turn even if he isn't adjacent to anybody, which is pretty nifty!
On his own he plays better than I would have first expected. Sidestep gives him some mobility and allows for a CCE strike or range attack. I've also played him with resources that grant move/attack powers. Charge is probably the least useful up front given it potentially negates his ES/D. RS is a good option because it allows greater efficiency and forces a hard decision on the opponent (move in and risk CCE, or stay back and have to get through the defense modifiers). For that reason I'm fine with charge where it is on his dial. The Sky-Cycle is another decent option that grants RS.
So I've decided I realize what my big problem with this piece(and all other modern age cap dials) is:
I think Captain America suffers from the problem of "street level affirmative action" . The dials they give him are WAYYY too powerful for the character. Why give him impervious or heavy reducers(AvX version) when they already have a power specifically for that, it's even called energy/SHIELD! deflection. Even then, traited energy shield deflection ( in this dial specifically) is an uneven representation of the character considering he loses his shield mid battle all the time.
If they just gave him high attack values and incredibly good leadership powers I'd understand, but they bloat his stats and let him deal way more damage than I've ever seen him do in any comic. When has captain america ever punched someone as hard as superman (via his possible 5 damage with close combat expert).
Sure, he's really awesome at taking down hydra mooks and inspiring others, but it's possible to create a captain america dial that does that without disrespecting other characters in the process. Shorten his dial, give him running shot instead of sidestep, take out the close combat expert until end dial, and you could have a perfect cap. I prefer the FF Classic Avengers dial for precisely those reasons, but even I wish they had switched out his invuln with energy/shield deflection.

cap has definitely been overpowered i mean sure he's good but he's not that good he is just a normal person really, the one from the classic avengers fast forces pack is a much better representation of him[however if you think this one is bad take a look at the new Steve Rogers fig we need a karate kid with attack values that insane].

Yea, the Steve Rogers SR also really bothers me, but I really dig his leadership special/prob control thing so I didn't complain too much about him.
and honestly, for Karate Kid, I find that DP shang-chi is a pretty adequate stand in (check him out if you haven't already, I just don't want to post his dial to this specific character thread). Just recruit him with Cosmic Boy and Lightning Lad, throw a legion ring on him, and watch him kick ass.

Cap is definitely not a normal person:
1. He's genetically enhanced.
2. He's worthy of mjolnir.
3. He survived suspended animation.
4. He leads some heroes stronger than himself.
5. He's a WW2 vet.

This observation is spot on! Cap is extraordinary.
Cap's Motorcycle from the NFAOS set runs well with this figure.
I don't really think this is an "overpowered" version of the character, merely showing him when he's full on point (the AvX one is unrealistically OP).
Think about it this way, cap can fight batman to a standstill (and probably win out on endurance due to serum goodness) he's basically an 11/10 on the scale of normal humans but he still hits like a a human, which is why his damage value never goes above 3 (same goes for batman). this piece is very obviously meant to pair off comparatively with TW batman and i think does a decent job of doing so.
people who are good at tagging their opponents get higher AV, people with superhuman strength get higher DV. it's the reason we've always got 11s and 12s on bullseye, dude can hit. the 12 attack here just shows that cap has a genius level intellect for combat and the PS backs that up, he may not be able to take down a brick like the hulk but he can sure as hell hit some pressure points and slow him down or hit him in the weak points up close to do a bit more (represented by CCE).
this figure shows his ability to go toe to toe with bigger dudes but the relatively squishy-ness and lower damage output puts him still on the high end of the human-tier echelon but not really above it. I think it's a great representation of cap, if a little expensive.
Granted this character is from a bit older set but if you want to see an ironic comparison- compare this guy to the ADW 072 Captain America. Their dials are nearly identical, given they have different abilities but wow the dial itself is nearly the same from top to bottom.
