Welcome to the third thrilling installment of The Heroclix Roleplayers' Society!
The Mountain is destroyed! Captain America is missing! As the shadow of President Luthor's regime continues to grow, what can the heroes of the world hope to do against it? Tune in this week for the first exciting adventure of the Green Lantern known as Daredevil, the Man Without Fear! As well as the first adventure of the Brotherhood of Mutants! For all these exciting adventures and more, read this weeks thrilling installment of the Heroclix Roleplayers' Society, Chapter 3: The New Fronts!
Last adventure, a fierce Hydra assault was launched against a mysterious Shield facility known as the Mountain. Though Shield, the Justice League and the Suicide Squad banded together to stop the attack, Hydra managed to detonate a compact but powerful bomb at the heart of the facility, leaving the teams that sought to defend it beaten and subdued! The attack was lead by six of the known heads of Hydra: Red Skull, Baron Strucker, Silver Samauri, Crossbones, Kingpin and Deadpool. Shield commanders Dick Grayson, Nick Fury, Jonah Hex and Ulysses all fought hard against the attack alongside the Justice League. When there combined force was not enough to repel the Hydra onslaught, a new team loyal to President Luthor showed up, the Suicide Squad. Despite being 'heroes', the team was comprised of Black Adam, Deadshot, Titano, Elektra, Doctor Psycho, The Hood and the Abominable Snowman.
A Tale of Two Worlds
Chapter 3: The New Fronts
Story:
A massive explosion rocks the Mountain to its core. “VICTORY!” Cried Red Skull, “All Hydra Units pull back, we have what we came for!” With a surge of Adrenaline, Red Skull quickly moved to where he knew Strucker's team was fighting. “Do you have Rogers?” the Red Skull said softly to the other Head of Hydra.
“Yes, He was caught in the blast and my test subjects have subdued him. They are moving him out as we speak.” Baron Strucker replied calmly. “The Squad did their job well, give my compliments to Osborn.”
“You can be assured I will.” Red Skull replied laughing. “Now lets get out of here. The mountain is down, we have Rogers, and we have the data. This could not have gone any better!”
***************
Struggling to his feet, Superman looked around at the chaos that had erupted so abruptly around him. Superman had thought they were winning the fight, till a single Hand Ninja infiltrated the base with a bomb strapped to his torso. “Is everyone okay?” Superman asked firmly into his communicator.
“Hawkeye and Spider-Man are down, but they will recover.” Batman replied. “I saw Stark a minute ago pursuing Hydra as they pulled back. Do you have eyes on Cap?”
“No.” Superman responded simply. “Give me a minute.” Superman slowly looked around, scanning the rubble with his x-ray vision. “Luthor put so much lead into every Shield base when he took office, it makes finding people difficult. I don't see him.” After several frantic minutes searching with no luck, Superman spots the Suicide Squad gathering together, preparing to depart. In the blink of an eye, he lands before them. “You joined our side of the fight. I want to know why.”
“Politics, I suppose.” The Hood replied gruffly. “Boss says we gotta defend the Mountain, then we gotta defend the mountain. Pity we are as bad at this hero stuff as your Super Friends or whatever you call yourselves.”
“Who is your Boss?” Superman demanded, promptly.
“Why the duly elected President Luthor. We are official heroes, unlike your gang of... vigilantes. You can bet he'll have some harsh words for you when he sees what a mess you made of a government operation”
After a tense moment, Superman starred at the collected group, “I'll be watching you. You say you serve Luthor? That means when you do something horrible it's tied to him. When that day comes, I will personally remove Luthor from the white house and tear down his regime brick by brick.”
With a last contemptuous look, Superman raced off, continuing his search for Captain America.
***************
Luthor glanced around the conference room. He never felt safe during these meetings. He puts on a persona of power and control, but at his core, he's concerned with the power hungry figures that make up his inner circle. Six of them, counting himself. One he knows he can trust. One he knows he can't, and three that fall somewhere in the middle. Still, Luthor didn't become the most powerful man in the world by letting the world see his fears. “Thank you all for joining me again. I trust you have been following the news, and are aware of the current political climate. The Justice League is currently being scrutinized for the explosion at the Mountain, despite their attempts to save it.”
“Yes, Luthor, that operation went off exactly as planned. Hydra is grateful for the assistance.” The Red Skull spoke, his hands resting on the table. “Strucker has made impressive steps forward in the month since the mountain was destroyed. The Minutemen should be ready in a month or so.” The rest of the room stayed quite as the Red Skull spoke. He was perhaps the most terrifying member of this group. He had been deputized into the Sinestro Corps many years ago at the height of the Second World War. Rumor had it that he was chosen due to the fear he inspired in the prisoners of war he experimented on.
“Thank you, Skull. As you all heard, Hydra is getting ready to make their presence known to the world. This will correspond to your invasion of New York, and your riot in the Washington D.C.” Luthor replied quickly, taking control of the conversation again. “Are you ready to move when I give the word?”
“Yeah” Wolverine replied in his gruff voice. “I got Doctor Polaris convinced we can have a peaceful protest, but things aren't going to end so well for him.”
“Excellent. See to it that he is removed from the Brotherhood. And what about Atlantis? Do you have what you need to invade New York?” Luthor redirected the conversation at the King of Atlantis.
“Naturally.” Spoke the Dictator of the Seas. “New York will fall exactly as planned. I guarantee it.”
***************
Daredevil ran through his city, leaping from rooftop to rooftop, climbing walls and continuing his patrol of Hell's Kitchen. His Green Lantern Ring meant he never reached for a ledge that wasn't there, never ran out of hands in a fight, and never was hit by something he sensed coming. Tonight, his heightened sense of smell alerted him to the arrival of the prince of Atlantis before he was within a normal persons eyesight. “Namor. Been a while since you've been topside.”
“Yes. Things in Atlantis have been extremely heated. I come with a warning, and hopefully help. My Half-Brother Arthur is planning an attack on New York.”
The words hung in the air, “An attack?” Daredevil asked into the night. “As in an invasion?”
“Yes. He seeks to occupy the city, using it as leverage to get what he wants for Atlantis. I want to help you stop him.” Namor was a proud man, and his voice portrayed that. It also portrayed undertones that others would not have picked up on.
“You want him dead.” Daredevil stated.
“...Yes.” Namor repeated. “Then I can take the throne and lead Atlantis away from this crazy path my brother has taken.”
“I will help you stop him, I won't help you kill him. I have some contacts I can get help from, and we need you to stand with us. But we will take Arthur alive.” Daredevil knew he had no leveredge here. If an attack was imminent, he would fight no matter what Namor did. But sometimes force of will won out.
“All right. He will still be dethroned, but we won't kill him.” Namor said, his eyes downcast.
“I miss when he called himself Aquaman.” Daredevil said softly, remembering years gone by.
“So do I.” Namor replied, remembering their superhero adventures many years ago.
Event:All HSR events are silver age with no tactics allowed unless specified by the event. The highlander rule is also in play, no duplicate characters unless they are generics, unless specified by the event. For Questions on these rules, please see the FAQ at the bottom of the page.
A few key words are used specifically when setting guidelines for team building. They are:
Character:A character refers to one person. Captain America is a character, Iron Man is a character and Thor is a character. Characters should be Proper Noun characters, not generics. This means that a figure like Avengers Prime is actually three characters, even though it is on one dial. Some characters, like Madrox or Ultron, can have many figures even though they only take up one character spot.
Generic: Generics will always be preceded by a keyword. An example can be seen below with Hydra Generic. This means that any number of hydra generic figures can be used.
Active Roster: Active rosters are the teams that are currently active in the story. When a team specifies it must be built from an active roster, any combination of the characters on that roster can be used. The active rosters also have any special effects a given character has. Relatively few characters will have special effects, but some will.
Point Value: 800 points Description: This week features two distinct attacks played by four different teams. To participate, simply pick one of the two events, and play the scenario. For a true test of Heroclix Prowess, try playing both in a Heroclix Roleplayers' Society Marathon!

Another great setup. I was just wondering which son of Atlantis would be the ruler in this particular universe and imaging which secondary Atlanteans I'd throw on a mixed Marvel/DC team. Very cool.
Assuming like last time with the Hydra generics if someone's stuck on setting up a team with a lack of a specific generic we can sub in the closest thing to it? For folks on a budget, Sentinels have traditionally tough to get, particularly 800 points worth, but robots are pretty abundant.
(Much thanks for the opening for anyone who doesn't have the old Doctor Polaris piece... are we overdue for a remake of him or what!)

Yeah, that's exactly what you would do. Given the recent wave of Ultrons, i'd probably use them as my substitute Sentinels.

Y'know what's really funny is this series inspired me to stock up on Hydra generics after the last match up (I'd been dragging my feet waiting for the price to drop a bit on those field agents) and now I'll probably end up trying to track down some Ultron drone generics that I'd ALSO been dragging my feet about stocking up on. Though I'll probably just get creative with what we've got on hand instead.

I fully support stockpiling generics. My personal poison is Nova Corps, Sakaraans and Dark Elves.
The Sentinels choice to build with strength over numbers proved fatal. Toad was thrown into the middle to draw out the opponents, Mags dropped his daughter off in Stealth where she could Prob roll for Sabretooth, Quicksilver was lucky enough to find some indoor blocking to hide the whole game behind, Avalanche got to do his awesome Quake once before he was dispatched next round. Wolverine waited for the time to strike but the old man was never significantly weakened. Sabretooth, after a perfect regen and trashing some bots was finally taken out. Mags cleaned up shop in the middle using his 8 range RS to his advantage finishing the assault. KOs: All the Sentinels, Toad, Avalanche and Sabretooth
