The caveat that his Ivy's Influence character has to *possess* Mind Control top-dial is substantial; most major MC characters of the past few years have it as a "can use" special power or trait. Sticking just to named keywords since mid-2013, though, you can make this Superman an agent of HYDRA (Hive), an Avenger or an Eternal (Sersei), a Central City citizen or Rogue (Pied Piper), a Sentinel (Alpha Class Defense Mode, 250pt line), an employee of Hammer Industries (205 Justin Hammer from IIM), have him join the X-Men (AvX Emma Frost, WatX Kid Omega), or make him one of "Leon Wilson"'s Yu-Gi-Oh! monsters (Little Red Riding Hood).
My picks, though, are Tellus from SLoSH (remember him?) and Egghead from Batman '66 (United Underworld- talk about a keyword that could use a good bruiser!). Units section is also suggesting Arcade (on his non-Murderworld starting click), which might require another deep dive into the beginning-of-game order. I could see that ruling going either way.
Yeah, see, he doesn't work with Mantis. She 'Can Use' Mind Control, but she doesn't possess it. AFAIK, no Guardians open with Mind Control, so there's no way for him to get the keyword. Its a bit restricting.
The Inhuman of Team Vegas,
Black Bolt of the Vegas Illuminati
Tied with Harlequin as my favorite Prime of the set. Even without an Ivy or MC to gain keywords from, he's a very good, standard Superman for 100 points. You'll get a little more play out of him than sm001 Superman @ 150 pts, thanks to the effect of the Control tokens; if he can gain Battle Fury through some in-game effect, he becomes MC-proof.
In Modern Age, I'd pair him with Agents of Asgard Loki; in Golden Age, No Man's Land Poison Ivy.
I wish it said that you had to remove a control token on a result of 1, rather than 1-3. When he's got no control tokens on his card you begin to question whether he's worth the 100 points, especially since the amount of keywords he can get are so limited...
Played him in sealed and found him a little lackluster. Part of that is just because he's overpowered by the other hypersonic bricks in the set in that format, though his point cost reflects that. Mostly it was because I rarely had any control tokens. Since his trait doesn't contain the phrase "roll a d6 that can't be re-rolled", I wonder if prob works on it... although the trait doesn't specify that the character is making the roll, so I'm not sure there's a target to prob.
Con Loki is an easy favorite running partner for this guy. Top dial Mindcontrol and Prob Control to help with the control tokens. Welcome to Asgard, Supes.
do4940 he wouldn't start with a control token, but you would get to roll the d6 to see if he gained one since id cards don't end the beginning of the turn.
