Basically Taskmaster, true to character, totally skirts the responsibility of taking unavoidable damage during your turn. That means he doesn't feel the burn of equipping Proteus. Copying Masters of Evil, he can act every turn without repercussions.
Now with the danger of Proteus, you'll never be able to sit on the top click for friendly Perplex or Precision Strike, and there's a 1/3 chance you won't get the exact click you want. You also can't move to Flurry/Blades unless you have 0 tokens. And a critical miss on click 5 would be totally bogus.
I Took Out The Avengers Once. Most of Them.: Give Taskmaster a free action and choose one of his combat values that is lower than the same combat value on one adjacent opposing character. Modify the chosen combat value by +1 until your next turn or until his dial is clicked. Master of All Moves: At the beginning of your turn, you may turn Taskmaster's dial to another click. If you do, at the end of your turn return him to the click he began the turn on
So we have 185 points to either:
1) Make a theme team and add Thunderbolts ATA
2) Add a Masters of Evil
Yeah, I looked that up after I posted. It looks like a fun combo. I would probably try to fill points with thunderbolts as I love that ATA, but I could see the benefit of MoE too. Are there any modern age MoE with Thunderbolt keyword to get the advantage of both?

Here's a question I just ran through on a practice game. What goes first, proteus roll for damage or Taso masters choose a click? Because I just played it either or since it doesn't state otherwise..
And taskmaster never got hurt by proteus....

You choose what happens first. And since it you return to the click you began the turn on, not the click you had at the beginning of the turn, Proteus doesn't stick by the end of the turn
