Is he worth it and if so what would he be good in?

I like him with Powerman. His pigeons die powering up Powerman. I use Spectrum to taxi him into position and unleash heck. This is part of my Blackavengers team.

The basic answer is YES, Samtain America is an awesome figure.

Every time I've played him or played against him, he's been a major figure on the board.

Even the pigeons and Redwing are awesome.

So yes, he's totally worth it.

He's good on any Avengers team, any SHIELD team.

He's very good, especially with the Secret Avengers ATA to protect that great defense special power.
