UXM062 Magneto and scrap metal markers in close attacks
Magneto's trait:
This Entire World Is Dead Dreams And Scrap: If there are no Scrap Metal markers attached to Magneto, you may give him a power action to destroy up to two walls or squares of printed Blocking terrain within 8 squares and attach that many Scrap Metal markers (maximum 2) Give Magneto a free action and remove all Scrap Metal markers to make that many object attacks as if he was holding a heavy object.
Can Magneto use these scrap metal markers as heavy objects in close attacks, as if he were using Super Strength? I believe he can, because his trait says "as if he was holding a heavy object", but that may be wishful thinking.
The scrap metal markers can only be used in the specific attacks granted by the trait. However the trait does not specify which types of attacks it grants so they could be close attacks.

Thanks for your reply
Short answer is yes. So on his opening click he could do 5+4 damage. 4 for the second due to damage depletion modifier.

Since it does not specify which object attack but just object attacks in general, you can use either. So following the rules of a ranged object attack, yes he can.
Serious question.. Since they are heavy object attacks, that means that magneto may only be able to toss them 4 squares? I have played against and used magneto a few times and my interpretation was that he could use it for 6 squares until I read this:
I asked the Wizkids Rules Forum about this and they rejected my question. They referred me to the Objects section of the rulebook. That left me with the same doubt. It's like asking your girlfriend what you did wrong. You can never get a satisfactory answer
I haven't played at a venue so far where someone has been using them at range. Everywhere i have played has used them as close combat attacks, otherwise I think this guys would really suck...
He can use them in close attacks, and he can throw them as described in the rule book, pg. 16:
Quote
USING OBJECTS IN RANGED COMBAT ATTACKS A character holding an object may throw it at a single opposing character; a character holding an object does not have to attack with the object when given a ranged combat action. To throw an object, give the character a ranged combat action and make a ranged combat attack, even if its range value is 0. Regardless of the attacker’s Range Value, light objects can be thrown 6 squares; heavy objects, 4 squares. Regardless of the attacker’s damage value, a successful ranged combat attack with an object deals Object Damage. Object Damage means a light object deals 2 damage; and a heavy object deals 3 damage.
And no, they cannot be TK'd as they are not actually objects (and are considered to be held anyways).
Yup, 4 squares it is. Makes sense. Not that I rather shoot with magneto anyway. I would always run him up with pixie, and then free action smash someone from close
