While we are getting the umpteenth version of Superman and Batman, there are still oh so many more or less popular characters out there that are still waiting impatiently for their Heroclix debut. In this edition of Unclixed, it's the Silver Age Green Lantern villain, Evil Star!
Debuting back in 1965 during the Silver Age, Evil Star was a scientist from the planet Auron. This scientist wanted to be immortal and developed a process that would prolong his life by sapping off energy from stars. This device was called the Starband (not to be confused with Marvel's Starbrand). For the most part, the Starband worked with exception of one drawback: It drove him stark raving nuts. So this guy, now calling himself Evil Star decides to set out and conquer other worlds. This would end up pitting him against Green Lantern and a number of Earth heroes over the course of his life.
"I shall call him... Mini-Me!"
Why clix him? I stated this a while back in the article about Javelin and it bears repeating: It would be nice to see Green Lantern villains represented from a time before all the other Lantern Corps were around.
To think, if any of Hal's enemies had thought to just yank the ring off his finger, they might not have had such a problem with him.
Who would he play with? Uh, no one else outside of other scientists and his Starlings, little powered up mini versions of Evil Star that follow his orders. And it's those minions that bring us to...
What would his dial look like? Evil star should definitely have a trait that lets him pop out a Starling or two. Either as a bystander, a removable piece of the sculpt or a generic in whatever set Evil Star is a part of. They should have Super Strength, Invulnerability and the tiny size symbol.
As for the man himself, Evil Star should have flight and Running Shot to begin with. Then add in some energy based attack powers like either Energy Explosion or Psychic Blast. He could create 'light constructs' so that could be represented by Energy Shields, Shape Change or Barrier. There's also his long life, so he could have Regeneration.
What would your idea of a dial for Evil Star look like, folks? Feel free to reply as that's it for this edition of Unclixed! Be here next week for an all new Comic Accurate! And in two weeks, we spotlight a Marvel villain!
I definitely agree that more gl villains from before the rainbow corps should be clixed. GL comes off as one note without them. Here's the dial I designed for evil star back in 2013 for my Green Lantern's Light set:

Starlings: Evil Star begins the game with Starlings attached. When Starlings are attached he possesses . When Evil Star is KO'd, remove Starlings from the map. When Starlings are KO'd, once per game you may reattach them to Evil Star and give him an action token. Mind-Controlled Mites: Give Evil Star a power action and remove Starlings from Evil Star and place them in an adjacent square. Starlings become a bystander token as described on the back of this card.
Planetary Conqueror Starband: Evil Star can use Perplex and Steal Energy but heals when making range combat attacks instead of close combat attacks.

I remember reading a few 90's Green Lantern issues with this guy in and think that he'd make a great addition to Heroclix. In fact that first image is from the Who's Who binder pages that DC put out around that time if I'm not mistaken. I believe that Evil Star should be clixed and fully support this addition of Unclixed...!
(By the way, awesome dial Baron)
Been waiting for this guy for some time now. Definitely one of the goofier villians; of course I love him and his "Power, more power!" thing.
I really can't see a more appropriate dial than what Baron has created here happening either (nice job btw), and although I'd have personally gone with pog generation, the removable Starlings seem like a pretty good idea for him too.
That would probably warrant a higher rarity, sculpt-wise, but I think a rare instead of SR would cover that (see Karu-Sil as an example).
Great, great character choice for the article.

I've often felt that the GL area of DC has been WOEFULLY underrepresented in Clix... even with WoL, there is so much missing... while every nook and cranny of Batman is covered
Contrary to popular belief, I do know what I'm doing
Arsenal, I'm still waiting for your influence with WK to bring us Javelin. "I'm going to throw pointy sticks at Green Lantern. That's right! You heard me!"
We also should be honest and acknowledge that Evil Star has both a terrible name and a really terrible mask. This has not helped his case among the Unclixed.

+1 for Evil Star (and yeah, the Starlings definitely should have either plasticity or a trait/power that subtracts one from breakaway rolls for every adjacent Starling)
+1 for more classic GL villains (although, it's classic Hawkman villains that I'm really pining for)
