The rogueeffect map site's been down for the past 24 hours or so. Anyone know the story?

In the past when it's been down for extended periods, it's either been technical issues or financial ones.

uh oh... I just noticed this problem, too (at least for us it's a problem....)

2 years ago, we were using creationmatrix, which is completely gone. The realms user RJCarpenter moved the maps from creationmatirx to rogueeffect, his personal site, in feb 2016. Carpenter hasn't been on the realms since 2/5/16, just after he fixed the maps last time.

Well, that's...discouraging.

I found an email for him, from 2004, and I sent a message. Hopefully it's something he still checks.

We should plan for him not wishing to set it back up again. Are there any programmers in this forum, who could maintain a site, if we took up a collection for the fees?

Thanks for trying to reach out to him. Here's hoping. I don't have the development expertise, but I would certainly be willing to contribute to a crowdfunding thing if someone were willing to do it.

If nothing else, I had the thought that people could use Google Sheets to mimic maps. Here's something I whipped together quickly:

It's not optimal of course, and creating the maps would take time, but it's at least potentially a way to carry on in the meantime.

I think remember seeing something on a local Player's youtube channel, I'll see what I can find out.

That's not half bad. We're limiting the number of maps in HCFL. So it's not an insurmountable task. I'll let you know if I hear from RJ

Looked it up, Roll 20. It's a website designed for tabletop games and there are some tutorials on YouTube to run Heroclix on it. Still requires finding maps and such, but dice rolls are actually in the program. We would still have to use the units section/figures as well. It looks like there might even be some groups set up already.

Thanks! That looks pretty cool and should definitely work. A little extra work to get a game started, but I'm sure one gets used to it.

guys. been sick for a week... dealing with it now, but yeah could use a fundraising drive... last time it ended up covering 1/2 the costs for a year.

Edit: And may I say thank you to RJ for what you do to keep it going. Sorry we didn't think to PM you. I don't get notifications sent to my email, so when Top Dog said you hadn't been on, didn't occur to me that it might work for you.

I end up paying 11$ USD a month, I probably need to spend the time to find a better deal and move everything, but I've set things up for the next 3 months again. The link should be back online in the next 12-24h.

I need to spend some time on the site to finally get things back up to snuff... creationmatrix is still around as well as a site it just has been slow lately with the last tournament over.

My plan was to use my vacation for some of this - not spend a week plus sick instead.

Is there any way to add new maps to the site? As I've said over in the Leagues, we're missing a lot of sets.
