This week, I'll be looking at the Recruit of the Blue Lantern Corps. It has a trait and a special power:
MINION: BLUE LANTERN CORPS: When a friendly character with the Blue Lantern Corps keyword that's 75 points or more is within 8 squares, modify Blue Lantern Recruit's defense value by +1.
This will help with the Recruit's lackluster defense numbers in close. It gets even better when considering that Blue Lanterns have a character with 18 Defense with Defend [wol031a Kyle Rayner (Blue Lantern)], as well as their Entity being able to give it out. Meaning that the Recruits having a 19 is easy to get, with all the Blue Lantern Perplex on top of that.
HOPE: Blue Lantern Recruit can use Perplex, but only to increase combat values.
Perplex is always good to see on a generic, even with it being a positive modifier exclusively.
The rest of the dial is also very usable. The Recruit can either use TK or carry, depending on what you need to help with your positioning. The top dial Enhancement also goes nicely with the Perplex, although the Probability Control on click 2 makes pushing tempting. Also, Although on its own, the Recruit doesn't have the best offensive stats, the other Blue Lanterns will remedy that. The team that I've built with the Recruit has that in mind.
This team is all about pumping up the team's average stats, and using the Blue Lantern Recruits for maximum mobility. Harley will probably take Defend from Adara to help the defense numbers on the Recruit and Hyenas. The Recruit will use TK to place the Hyenas, who will also get Sidestep from their traits, to actually be able to make attacks and serve as very annoying tie-up, while Harley and Flash zip around the map with Hypersonic Speed.
That's all I have for this week. Thanks for reading, and come back in two weeks, when I will, in the spirit of the Avengers Infinity set, take a look at a new generic with the Cosmic keyword, the Ego Anti-Body.
Blues! I love me some Blues. Nice breakdown of the Recruits, Jaysol. They're definitely a lot more useful than they seem at first glance!
Also, know who likes hanging out with Adara, the Recruits, and the other Blues? Starbrand (Prime). What are the Blues missing but (1) a tank who (2) has his own Perplex (3) with a reasonably long dial who (4) likes to blow up on everyone he's tanking while the rest of his team plays at range?
I was under the impression that you needed a theme team to use ATA's. Was I wrong? Looks like a fun team.
