I recently played a (01 June 2018 Modern Age) 300-point Female Furies team, and like countless folks before me I was frustrated by the odd-woman-out 80-point value on Stompa.
I was trying to think of 20-points worth of investments that would benefit a Female Furies keyword team, while noting that the HQGG Female Furies all share the Apokalips keyword. I feel that not breaking Keyword theme is actually important for the HQGG Furies. Here are some things that came to my mind:
20-point Colossal Retaliation from SMWW Brimstone. This keeps theme (with Apokalips) but this feels like a bit of a risky move. The move value means he will never get far from your starting area, especially if he is carrying another figure. It could be hard to place Brimstone such that he can make attacks against more than one figure, and his mediocre defense likely means that he's only getting the one retaliation attack before he is KOed.
2x 10-point SFoSM Thug. They will give +2 for determining which player gets map choice, and some Mastermind fodder for Granny. They could represent Lowlies. Pick the Female Furies keyword for them and they can trigger some special powers from the other Female Furies if they are KO-ed. The one thing they bring to the team for offense are ranged attacks, and if the Superman Enemy team ability is being used to counter defensive powers their damage values can actually make the damage stick.
Equipment/Objects: IMHO, the HQGG figures are not particularly well-suited for trying to equip special objects. I feel like they need to be setting the offensive pace of the game. Messing around with special objects is an invitation to get swarmed or sniped by a mobile team. Here are some other things I think specifically work against them:
1) Very few Female Furies/Apokalips keyword characters in the 125-points and below cost range start with Super Strength, which means that those without cannot pick up Heavy equipment prior to equipping which limits your forces' initial positioning.
2) Very few of the keyword Characters have Willpower, so with limited TAXI options the Female Furies are going to take several turns before being able to equip an object/weapon.
3) To my glance, the current suite of object/weapons don't particularly suit any of the Female Furies.
Having written the above, I think there may be a few cases where some objects/equipment could help. Both the HQGG Big Barda figures bring mobility that can help another figure (or herself in the case of the one with Willpower) to quip an object. The HSS prime WF017b (if on the team courtesy of Granny's top-dial Mind Control) can pick-up an object and attack on the same turn, and then equip on the next turn courtesy of Willpower.
As far as objects to pick, any object that gives Giant Reach can help Stompa. The Symbiote is a sort of default cheap defensive option with nearly free stat boosts one-third of the time. Lashina or prime Big Barda with a Bloodaxe could be nasty.
ID Cards: These will be most effective as long as the Call In Help characters can be called in by your lowest point Furies (e.g. 50-point SR Wolverine). The XXS figures that can be called in also have a variety of tricks not available to most of teh Female Furies.
In terms of now-retired game elements:
Feat Cards: Warbound (5 points per shared keyword) strikes me as the sort of obvious choice, because the Furies are very likely to be in close quarters to trigger the Superman Enemy team ability. You just have to make the math work out.
Resources: 20 points is enough to get some annoying resources in play. The Millenium Stone can generate BSTs and has a few tricksy powers that can help out. 20-points is low for a Power Battery, but it is possible to get up to three constructs on either the Blue or Yellow Power Batteries (because of the low cost rings), other Power Batteries will max out at 2 additional constructs for 20 points. IMHO 20 points is not enough to get the most out of the Phoenix Force, but giving a character like Mad Harriet staring Flight, +1 movement, Invulnerability/Toughness and Poison could really help disrupt an opposing team's battle formations.
I've written enough for now, what ideas can you come up with?
I admire what you’re trying to do here, and like the blood axe suggestions
