Greetings players and welcome back to another installment of Slade’s Top 5!
In case you’re not familiar, Slade’s Top 5 is where I examine various elements of HeroClix (and other related materials) and rank them according to my top five in a given category. Simple enough right? Great! Click on the full story link below and we’ll get this thing started.
The Mighty Thor was my favorite set of 2017. One of the things that made TMT set so abundantly enjoyable was all the equip-able special objects that came with their respective characters. I would love to see more of this and there are plenty of items out there that could make for some fun choices.
With that said, here are my top 5 equip-able special objects that I would absolutely love to see make their way to the game.
#5 The Cosmic Staff
Wielded primarily by Jack Knight and Stargirl, the Cosmic Staff is a powerful weapon/device that absorbed stellar energy and used it to create a wide range of abilities. This object could grant any of the following abilities: Telekinesis, Energy/Shield Deflection, RCE with a minimum range of say 5. Give us a Starman or Stargirl with this item and we’re all set.
#4 Ebony Blade
Originally granted to Sir Percy of Scandia and passed to Dane Whitman, this enchanted sword is a worthy rival to the famed Excalibur. Blades/Claws/Fangs is an obvious power to be granted by this object, but with the added advantage of its damage being unavoidable. To represent the blades curse, when the wielder KO’s an opponent, they could gain Battle Furry and a penalty like a -1 to their attack for the rest of the game. Black Knight of course would equip this for free.
#3 Nth Metal Mace
Native to Thanagar, Nth metal can be used in a variety of ways. For this item, I think granting the user CCE and ability to ignore Mystics damage would be the way to go. Either Hawkman or Hawkgirl would be the recipients of this one.
#2 Goblin Glider
Man, how did we not get one of these yet? With the Goblins from SFOSM being “wingless” many assumed we would see these sooner or later. Capable of great maneuverability and speed it seems only practical that this equip-able item grants flight and a +2 to the character’s speed values. When the character using this item takes a damage, a d6 roll could determine if the character is flung from the glider. Ouch! Green or Hob whichever Goblin could start with this object equipped.
#1 Nega-Bands
Awarded to Mar-Vell of the Kree by the Supreme Intelligence, these alien accessories combine the forces of the Negative Zone and the wielder's own psionic energies to provide several effects. I think a +1 to damage combined with a nifty ability to select another character on your force (or maybe even a sidelined character) to be able to switch places with via a power action would be a great way to represent the Nega-Bands in the game. Mar-vell or even a Rick Jones could be the applicants to accessorize with these beauties.
Well, that about wraps this up for me; now it’s your turn. What special objects would you like to see make their way to HeroClix? Share with your fellow players and let your thought be known. Who knows, it just may happen.
Until next time, good gaming!

Reason: Adding content
All Black the Necro Sword. It's what made Gorr into the God Butcher. It would be expensive, maybe cost like 15. Give +1 to attack/defense, shape change, B/C/F, and steal energy. Easy to come up with a variety of interpretations, it seemed very powerful and gave Gorr a wide array of abilities.
I just added my thoughts on what my suggestions could look like.
KC Wonder Woman's sword (Flurry, BCF once per game upon making KC T.A. roll save the die roll, replace your die roll with the saved die roll)
and armor (Twice per game you may use Invincible.)
Ultimate Nullifier (since it is a part of Galactus... OMEGA DRIVE + GUNGRIR)
Magog's staff (Reduce attack by 3 Increase damage, by 5 take 6 damage
Dooms time platform (At the beginning of each players turn, They must roll 2D6 every turn KOed characters are not scored. the platform is considered activated. When activated even if all your team is KOed, Roll 1 d6. that will the click they resurrect on. 75 pts per 300 build + 25 per additional build cant be destroyed
Captain Marvel's Cape (Make it very similar to Parallax entity, get rid of stealth Psych Blast and replace with shape change, Exploit Weakness that can combo with Hyper 1x per game.)

They say the best weapon is one you never have to fire. I respectfully disagree. I prefer the weapon you only have to fire once. That's how Dad did it, that's how America does it, and it's worked out pretty well so far." Robert Downey/Tony Stark
+2 Range or +1 Damage and an assortment of powers once per game each. Penetrating/Psy, EE, RCE, Outwit (but only for defensive powers), Smoke Cloud, and Incapacitate
Magnetos Helm is amazing. If it could give the person TK and flight that’d be cool.
I always thought that the game should have “weapon pogs” that would cost towards your build and essentially work as special objects like right now, except they would last for one turn and cost less than standard Special objects.
EXAMPLE:
You’d take a move action to pick up a light object (insert whatever modern weaponry you could think of).
You could use it like a regular light object ...OR
You could take a power action to FIRE the weapon. You would replace your attack/damage values with the object to simulate firing the rifle your character just picked up.
Scenario: Character X sidesteps into a light object labelled “assault rifle”. You replace your 9 attack/0 range/1 damage with “assault rifle’s” 6 range/ 11 attack/ 2 damage, you also get to have the option to choose one of the powers the “assault rifle” provides. ( in my head it would be energy explosion to simulate a grenade launcher, or ranged combat expert to simulate emptying a magazine into a target.
For one turn you would be able to give your dying 0 range briuser a one turn boost of range and potential Damage output to turn the tides... and in a game where there is a ton of fighting going on I don’t see it out of the ordinary for any one of these characters to pick up a weapon to turn the tide of battle.
I know this isn't the same thing you guys are talking about, but with all the Casey Jones we got in the TMNT sets, l wanted to see one that represented his bag of weapons.
Golf Bag: FREE: choose one until your next turn
Baseball Bat: Close Combat Expert
Golf Club: Hit characters are given an action token after action resolves
Hockey Stick: Giant Reach +2
Again, l know this isn't the same thing, and we will never see a "Golf Bag" equipable weapon, but l would love to see a Casey with this.
"Cable Big F*ck*n Gun"
FREE:chose RCE,Energy explosion,Min.Range 6,Range +2
While equipped with "Cable Big F*ck*n Gun",Cable Damage is penetrating.
8 points.
