I have a question i was dueling my friend a little bit ago, and i destroyed my opponents monster which was a Archfiend of Gilfer and my monster was destroyed so he chose to equip it to his Obnoxious Celtic Guardian! I don't know why he did but he did, anway he also equiped a Axe of Despair bringing Celtic Guardians attack up to 1900. So on my move i summon Breaker and destroy the Axe leaving Celtic Guardian at 900. I have Breaker Destroy Celtic Guradian and he says that it would then equip to Breaker. My question is, is that leagal because it was already sent to the graveyard. Can you please help me!

Ok, I have Archfiend of Gilfer. A very nice card. It's effect continues on until either 1.the opponet has no monsters or 2., it is destroyed by the effect of a spell or trap. Sorta like Dark Necrofear. You cheated in your duel though. You can only destroy a spell or trap with Breaker's effect. You should've destroyed his Archfiend of Gilfer since it is counted as an equip spell card when his effect is activated. You also cannot attack your OWN monsters. See the rule book. g2g, peace.
Please exsplain to me how i cheated cause, i targeted the Axe of Dispair with Breaker the Magical Warrior, and that left his Celtic Guardian at 900 attack points. I do not understand how i cheated. Thanks for the ruling though. I really don't understand how i cheated?

Number 2 is wrong. If Archfiend of Gilfer is destroyed as an equip card by a magic, trap or monster effect AND if it's the last thing to happen (same as Peten Ruling) then the owner of Gilfer DOES have the option of equipping it to something else. Dark Necrofear also kicks in again if destroyed as an equip by an opponent's card effect. The difference between them is that, even if the monster Archfiend of Gilfer is equipped to is destroyed, Archfiend of Gilfer CAN activate again because it was just sent to the graveyard, whereas, Dark Necrofear HAS to be DESTROYED by an opponent's magic, trap or monster effect.
The japanese ruling may state differently, but in the english ruling, that is how Necrofear and Gilfer work.
Archfiend of Gilfer's effect won't activate under certain circumstances where being sent to the graveyard ISN'T the last thing to happen.
Such events would
Discarded as a cost for Tribute for the Doomed -> Gilfer sent to the graveyard -> Monster is destroyed
Discarded through through Card Destruction - > Gilfer goes to the graveyard -> both players draw
these are just a couple events.
Anyways, Redmagician10, you need to read closely. He DID NOT attack his own monster because Obnoxious Celtic Guard was used by his OPPONENT, not him.
The way it went is that he destroyed his Archfiend of Gilfer, but his opponent also had Obnoxious Celtic Guard on the field so he chose to equip Gilfer to him and then gave it Axe of Despair to compensate for the 500 Decrease. Then b-rad summons Breaker and uses the counter to destroy the Axe of Despair and destroys Retrained Celtic Guard (being only 1600 ATK it works) and he's asking if his opponent is allowed to re-equip it to Breaker
Answer to your question b-rad, as stated above, is yes he can.
