I heard many poeple say "Yea good times of beatdown are gone", andi am like "you crazy?" is this really true? I check and everybody is using some fancy deck other than beatdown, i am wondering what happen togood old beatdown? i still run it, its does wonders, kiill controls, takes care of burns, i dont see what happen to classic Beatdown
I guess my question is this: What Happen to Classic Beatdown, with spear dragons, slatewarriors, Berserk gorrilas, and the whole idea of beating you opponent to the ground?
There are still many classic beatdowns out there, trust me. But people, it seems, besides CCC, have become more strategic and realize it's more fun to have a complex strategy than just stomp and win.
Perhaps, I admit, burning is really awesome to play, but i mean what "Complex Strategy" and "Fun" is there Exodia Decks, OTK, boring its all over, sure its awesome, but i mean, what fun is there???
(DOUBLE POST) Not to mention the various decks out there that are fun to play.
One of Realms' very own uses a Hino Kagu Tsuchi-Strike Ninja deck and it is complex and fun. Scientist, and a ton of other complex strategies that are loads of fun.

Control is not all the same, folks. There are various contention points that I've seen arising amongst them - how many Scapegoat to use, Creature Swap vs. Meta vs. both, Gorillas or Kycoos, how many Dons, etc. Their card pool is small, granted, but at least they're having to work more with preference rather than the same exact formula.
I dunno what happened to beatdown. Every once in a while it'll crop up, but I guess it got lost in the dust of the "'original decks' vs. chaos/warriors" battle.
Uhh, well iguess, not a real fan of warriors, spellcaster are pretty good, but i am unhappy with the little Spellcaster resourcers(Other than Dark Magician that is). *looks at his Injection fairy lily and groans*. I guess what i am trying to say OTK= No Fun.
Probably what i enjoy is Burn:
Light Burn(Solar rays )
Fire Burn( Solar Flares)
Suicides Fire burn( With backfire)
Regular Burn(Many cards)
And Beatdown aint exactly just stump and win:
Traps counter and mess you up and you have to start over with the plan
Face down cards, the ever popular burn and stalling hehe.
Beatdown is MORE than just "stomp and win." People these days tend to think that Beatdown is too easy to make, thinking all they need are high ATK monsters and that's really it. With all the new cards that are out and A LOT of new strategies, Beatdown takes A LOT of thought into making. You want it to balance some lower ATK monsters with it too BECAUSE of those stall people and you also want to consider what is their biggest threat and figure out ways to protect them and to also figure out ways to protect your monsters just to bring them out.

The man has spoken. you said what i wnated to say, i just cant think what words use, but well said.
Beatdown is too general of a term. The game of Yugioh has become so unbalanced and control cards can easily be added to a beatdown type of deck and keep its center core alive and kicking. Very few CCGs can be this flexible and its often admitted to be unbalanced in that aspect that so many strategis may easily fit together. Luck not skill is a major issue in the game. There is very little skill involved in tossing in a few pre negs etc. Every single deck that requires the depletion of LP (yes even burn) can be considered beatdown. A few tricks added in suddenly make it a Control deck in the mindset of each player. This is similar to the illness people have that whenever they see a DDWL they automatically say "Ugh another warrior deck" I personally an fed up with these comments. The reason for these comments is that since so many strategies can be utilized in a single deck. Everyone can take what is good about every strategy and make a deck around it. This causes overplaying of certain decks and insults to be passed to decks that use such methods. The reason beatdown isnt played anymore? The answer is simple......
Yugioh is broken.
They try and fix these things by banning cards.
It helped somewhat but not as much as most had hoped.
The ban list's intention was to remove the majority of mass removal which it succedded in doing so.
This caused panic. O no I cant First Turn CED. This limited the strategies. With the remaining cards available, regular beatdown does not stand as much of a chance of a control based death.
Hmmmm but all this thought means we are using skill right?
Nope.
Netdecking and cookie cutters have run wild. This card game started out as a kids game. As its progressing it now appears that if u can read.... You can netdeck. Netdecking means more mirror matches. And with the rules and options available by the CCG. Luck is a deciding factor is such mirror matches. People claim that there is hate cards against these decks. Such as Kinetic Soldier against Warriors.
According to my information: Field Control warriors is most played (with BLS) deck. So therefore with heavy field control kinetic soldier often has a already small lifespan and will continue to lessen as the o so great more mass removal cards come out. Namely Vortex.
If a basic beatdown deck with absolutely no control cards were to go up against a deck such as the above one. Its almost a shut out that basic beatdown would lose.
When playing in tournaments no one wants to play a losing deck. In casual play no one wants to play something as boring as basic beatdown.
You think it is forgotten? You are incorrect. However do not blame the players. Blame the people who create with these wonderful ideas to have cards with almost no restriction on the time window of playing it that causes game breaking effects. If you look at the metagame article about god hands, you will see what I mean. If a certain deck gets the exact hand they wany. Its almost impossible to win against. Hence the luck factor.
So my question to you would be.
Would you play a deck in a tournament if you knew you were going to lose AND not have any fun?
That should answer your question. Sure, Yata and what not has been banned, but CCC or flat out control can always come out grasping a beatdown duelist by his throat.
I run a mixtire of Old-school beatdown combined with new school field manipulation. I have plenty of high-power monsters to pound my opponents inot pulp, but unlike most other beatdown duelists, I also make excellent use of Magic/Traps that will protect my monsters and screw over my opponent at the same time.
Sure I get ridiculed at times for running beatdown, but when I play most of these CCC and even Hand-Destruction, these guys get shocked when I can beat them.
Some have even broke down and felt shame at losing to a beatdown deck.
do not worry...the beatdowns are still out there...and still quite common...me im an exodia and countdown deck user (thats 2 diff decks, not one so dont get confused)...but i've seen many decks still using the beatdown style...problem is, last turn and scientest are still as annoying as ever (obviously i dont have much luck against them since my decks are stall types)...
Well i am glad good beatdown is still alive, although i usually beat all Control Decks. See i used think it worked like this. Like a triangle. FTK win vs beatdown, Beatdown beats control, and Control beats FTK
