Before the start of the Advanced format, the main complaint I heard from both critics and players of Yu-Gi-Oh! was that everyone was playing the same deck. At the time, they were correct. Before the Forbidden list was put into effect, there was always one deck that had so much power and support behind it that you either had to play it or play to counter it. This problem can be traced back to the beginning of the game, and it started with the deck I’ll show you today.
Wow, I remember pining for my three la jinns and neos. I started this game when metal raiders was JUST released. I still have my Suijin I pulled from my first pack sitting in its hardback plastic in my desk. He was my best monster!
My first real deck (outside of the newbie deck I started with, I was never, nor will I ever be a n00b, I listened to my superiors, and kept my newbie status untill graduating) was my exodia deck, that I gladly traded my jinzo and heavy storm to get.... during PSV days. I traded the current equivilant of Black Luster Soldier and Breaker to get those pieces! And oh the days when I pulled my head of exodia.
Now my exodia set is almost entirely first edition (the left leg avoids me still) and my decks thrive. Clowns have proven themselves time and time again, and my Angels seem to be uberly powerful in their own right.
Oh, and tama.... I have that article.... maybe I should just message this to you.
