Please tell me that I wasn't screwed yesterday at a local tourny held in my area yesterday...
First off I was running my Armed Dragon deck and had made it to the Semi's, facing Horus.
My opponent had got out LV8 by the 4th turn, and I had my Armed Dragon LV5 on the field, with Book of Moon in hand and Crossout. I also had Divine Wrath set.
I then activated BoM, which of course my opponent declared that he would negate it. I then activated DWrath.
End result the store owner said that I couldn't do that because Horus's effect is continuous.
I know Lv6 Horus is that way..was i screwed???
BTW, the store wasn't a Judge, he said that he was using his common sense.
Sorry, big guy. But Horus' (Level 8) effect IS DEFINITELY Divine Wrathable.
It is, after all, an effect that ACTIVATES.
Waldo10032 – The Fiendish Duelist says "What does not belong? A drum, an egg, or a Fiend Deck?
Well, you can beat a drum. You can beat an egg, but you can't beat a Fiend Deck."
man, that sucks. you got screwed. any time an effect is activated, including LV8 negating an effect, divine wrath will destroy the monster, unless they chain with a trap jammer or something. If the effect is continous, no divine wrath, if it is triggered, say, even in the graveyard, like vampire lord, you can negate the effect, but since he is still in the graveyard, you can't destroy him, but he doesn't come back. even sinister, witch, emissary, necrofear, etc. most effects that activate in the graveyard. divine wrath is an overlooked card, and I am glad to see someone else using it.

.
Pretty much any effect you can OPTIONALLY activate or have a cost to activate is considered an activating or triggering effect that Divine Wrath can be used against. Since your opponent can CHOOSE whether or not to ACTIVATE Horus LV8's effect, Divine Wrath CAN work on it. If the opponent chooses to discard for Armed Dragon's effect, it can be Divine Wrathed. If someone decides to activate Strike Ninja's effect, it can be Divine Wrathed and so on and so forth. The monster also, DOES NOT have to be on the field and "destroyed" in order for Divine Wrath to work. You can use it to simply negate the effect, so if the opponent uses Exiled Force and then tributes it to activate its destruction effect, you CAN use Divine Wrath to negate the activation of the card, but since it's in the graveyard you would not "destroy" it, but the effect will still be negated.
Effects that Divine Wrath WON'T work on are cards that usually have an effect "As long as this card remains face up on the field...." or cards with built in trampling abilities or cards that can't be destroyed in battle and that sort of thing since they are NEVER "activated." They are just there.
