Ok, here we go:

1) If I special summon a Bone Tower to the field, will it get its own effect?

2) If DNA Surgery (on Zombie) is on the field, will the Bone Tower discard effect go off when any monster is special summoned? or only "true" Zombies.

Heck, while we're on the Zombie subject, can somebody give me some of the stranger rulings on Vampire Lord? Like what happens when my opponent takes my Vamp Lord?

If "Vampire Lord" is destroyed while on your opponent's side of the field you will NOT get the effect.

If "Vampire Lord" is destroyed by "Horn of Heaven" or "Solemn Judgement" he will be special summoned during your next Standby Phase.
