Hi,
i recently read somewhere that the errata on "The Sacred Phoenix of Nephtys" was going to be altered, so that he would become a 3 tribute monster. Is this true? Is it going to be the same for all level 8 monsters?

I dont know where you heard this, but I think I know where the confusion lies. Some people interperate Guiding Hand's effect to mean you must sac two monsters, AND the hand, instead of two monsters, one being the hand itself.

Level 7 and above will always be 2 tributes, even with a billion stars.

At least Victory Dragon requires three tributes. Oh well, since it's not available for the english game yet...

Yeah, Phoenix only requires Hand of Nephthys + one other monster.

People talk like Hand of Nephthys being itself AND 2 other monster's when it's just itself and another monster.

People seem to misinterpret it when it says to tribute 2 monsters including this card as making 3 tributes.

As for Phoenix itself and any other monster...

Unless it specifically states otherwise in an effect, then ANY level 7 or higher monster is only needing 2 tributes.

So far...the highest level monster's we got that are tribute summonable are level 10 monster's

And...even though it's part of its effect, Sorcerer of Dark Magic is somewhat like another level 9 monster since you tribute 2 level 6+ spellcasters, lol.

I know that everything 7+ is 2 tributes, i just heard that upperdeck was going to make a specific ruleing that phoenix would be 3 tributes or somethin like that.
anyways, glad we got that resolved, now i just need to work on gettin one and ill be fine. lol

I would like to know where you heard that upperdeck would be making it a 3-tribute monster, as they would need to get permission from Konami, and I believe in the Japanese game, Phoenix is only a two tribute, and special summon with Nephthys is only two, including itself and one other.

Moral of the story: don't believe everything you hear.
