I am confuse on how do LV. up monsters work, do you absolutly need the privious LV. or you can use regular monster for high star evel LV monster ?

Is there a rule that obligates you to "need" the previous stage or is it just a trent, by the way i am not talking about the ones that say: "this card cannot be normal summon or set, this card cannot be special summon, exept for the effect of ????".

You don't necessarily NEED their "baby" stages (Silent LV3, Armed LV3, Horus LV4, etc) since you can tribute summon Silent LV5, Armed LV5, Horus LV6, Ultimate Insect LV5, etc.

In terms of their adult level's you NEED their previous level's to be able to get them out since you need to either get them out through the previous level's effect's or tribute their previous level to get out with Level Up!
