I have read a couple months ago that you can use Trap Hole on Jinzo on the Upper Deck website. When I threw a tournament this past weekend the situation came up and when I went to look it up, it wasn't there so I alowed the summon. The question is can you or can't you use it. I've got witnesses from when I did see it on there. I just want to know if you can use trap hole or any other kind of summoning stopping trap cards. Peace!
no, you can't trap hole jinzo. jinzo must be summoned successfully to even activate trap hole, by which time jinzo is negating traps. this is the oldest ruling EVER. lol.
I really don't think you saw this ruling on an Upperdeck Website, as they have NEVER said Jinzo could be trap holed.
As stated previously, Jinzo can not be trap holed. Why? Because Trap Hole can only be activated once a monster is successfully summoned, that means the monster is face up on te field. Now once Jinzo is face up on the field, he starts to negate traps, and prevent the activation of traps. So trap Hole could never be activated.
Hope that helps. Also, you may want to check the FAQ on Upperdecks sites regularly, just so things like this don't happen.
VenomLord is right; Upper Deck Entertainment's site has never said that "Trap Hole" can be used on "Jinzo"; either you misinterpreted what was written on the site, or you imagined it.
The third possibility is that you've seen it in Beckett's YGO Collector magazine, which had the incorrect ruling printed in a Q & A section of theirs (but I hear they corrected themselves in a later issue, so all is not lost).
First of all you cant Chain to a Summon, and you may not chain to a Continous effect.
Jinzo is a Continous effect, and you may not chain to him.
And you may only Respond to a Summon, not chain as summons have no spell Speed. The Instant Jinzo touches the field his effect is in play, there is no spell speed for that to chain to. You can not respond to the Summoning with trap hole because Trap hole Requires the monster to be sucessfully summoned. By the time Jinzo hits the field its too late.
Ofcourse you could use HOrn of Heaven or Solemn Judgment on him, as it Negates his Summoning so he technically never touches the field...
I knew Trap Hole couldn't get Jinzo, but I was trying to see exactly why. The only way I knew it could have been possible was by my question and thats why I asked if Trap Hole could do that.
But what if Trap Hole is chained to the triggering of Jinzo's ability as he comes in play, hmm ?
My first post answered this question. Also there is nothing to chain to. Jinzo's effect does not activate. When he is face up on the field it just exists and happens. That is why Divine Wrath could not be used on him. So let's review.
When Jinzo is summoned his effect automatically blankets the field. Since the time he is summoned and is face up on the field he starts to negate, and prevent the activation of traps, then Trap Hole, Bottomless Trap Hole, and Torrential Tribute require to be activated in response to a successful summon. By that time Jinzo is face up on the field, then they could not be activated.
Jinzo can't be Trap Holed or even Botomless Trap Holed. It can only be solmn wished or Horn of Heavened, because the NEGATE the summon, thus preventing the effect from coming into play
Yes, only cards like Horn of Heaven and Solemn Judgement PREVENT Jinzo from negating trap cards because they mke it like if Jinzo was tributed for and it went from hand to graveyard, or in a way, was going to be summoned and never touched the field, which ever way explains it better.

not exactly. he just never hits the field and is destroyed.
everyone's correct. on the other hand, if anyone else reads these replys, remember that HORN OF HEAVEN's effect negates A SUMMON. and SOLEMN JUDGEMENT's effect negates A SUMMON, MAGIC OR TRAP EFFECT.

Correction, Solemn Judgment does not negate EFFECTS. Solemn Judgment negates the summon of a monster or the ACTIVATION of a spell or trap.
