Two questions came up to me in a tournament today.

My Ninja Grandmaster Saskue attacks my opponents defence posistion Ryu Kokki. Are they both destroyed?

I tribute my Sangan to summon End of Anubis. Does Sangan's effect go off before or after End hits the field and his effect kicks in?

Only Ryu is destroyed since he would no longer be present at the time his effect would apply (during the Send to the Graveyard portion of the Damage Step).

End of Anubis would be face-up on the Field by the time Sangan's effect activates and would negate Sangan's effect.

i dont think ryu and grandmaster ever really battle, when an attack is declared for grandmaster, and the conditions are correct, his effect destroys the monster instead of the grandmaster's attack. i think this is why ryu's effect would never activate.
