Sorry if there has already been a thread on this, but I want to get people's opinions on which would be better for a (gasp) chaos deck as the light tribute. We all know both monster's effects:
Airknight: Trample + Hand Advantage + 1 tribute
SS Lv5: Immune to spell effects + 2300 attack + 1 tribute
While Silent Swordsman Lv5 is my favritest card in the world =) i have to say that in a chaos deck airknight will be the better choice. only chaos mind you, everywhere else sslv5 will reign supreme...
I like SS5 better for a chaos deck. I've ran both, their bothg ood, but in the end, what can hurt you more? A magic card, or a defense position monster?
the more im thinking about it the more im starting to like the SS Lv5. airknight's ability for trample and draw is excellent.................but i think it gets destroyed in battle or snatched or smashed or vortex'd or book of moon'd/crossed out, way too easily.
yugiman2002 I totally agree with you. Once Lv 5 became legal to use out went Airknight and in went Lv 5. While it is true that Airknight lets you draw and has trample he is easily dealt with. I mean come on. You can suicide a 1900, use a Gorilla to crush it, Snatch it, Smash his ground, Fissure it, Vortex it, Book it, Control it, Tribute to the Doom it, and every other Spell you want to use on it. Lv 5 says NO,No,No to all of those options and while he doesn't have trample he is superior in every other way. Most decks only have Exiled, Jinzo, or some other "large" monster like BLS to deal with him. If Scapegoat or any other defense monster has got you down I only have 3 words for you guys....Windstorm of Etaqua.
why dont use just use both as tributes, and take some of ur level 4 and under lights and swap them for darks? i man u could do jinzo/vampirelord, airknight, and ss5. three tributes isnt horrible. i just pulled ss5 myself and cant wait to try it.
Yes Silent Swordsman Lv 5 is a bit better, because as Mr. Exodia explained, Lv 5 can handle more situations, Since I've Gotten Him I can't tell you the shocked looks; just as my Horus Lv6 does, when they're stalling with nothing but, *snicker* swords of revealing light on the field, and nothing else...its like trying to stop Jinzo with only a Sakuretsu Armor it just won't work. Can You hear me now, Nick? Good
Airknight is nice though, but with all of these level 4 monsters running around these days?!?! Personally I'm afraid to go outside!
This is actually the first time i've thought of it but yeah, swordsman is actually better. I mean airknight has fairly solid atk, trample and hand advantage(which can kill in a chaos deck since it can help you draw a bls) but it can be dealt with by tons of cards. It can be KO'ed by numerous spells like vortex or smashing ground and can be overpowered by blade knights and berserks. On the other hand ss5 is unaffected by all those pesky spells and has a solid attack than can't be beaten by a level 4 monster without help from an equip card or effect of a monster.Plus the only things that are actually highly playable that can easily deal with the swordsman are jinzo, exiled force, tribe etc. and those will also be fairly hard to top deck in time before the swordsman wipes out your life points.
I use silent swordsman lv5 and it helps a lot. 1 its inmune to spells and it has no problem with those darn beserk gorillas. Sure airknight has the draw and the defence killer thing but i think silent is a litttle better
I like airknight better with almost every one playing goats and it quick damage and you get to draw a nother card. But I'm not saying that LV5 is not good I just run airknigth insted.
Goats can be dealt with in better ways than Parshath, If you have that much goat troubles put in Enraged Battle ox, windstorm, or King tiger wangu. Swordsman level 5 is a much bigger threat than an airknight, I see someone summon an airknight I laugh and kill it, usually the same/next turn. The Immunity to spells causes much more problems for people than you'd think, My horus level 6s really piss people off.
