Is DDV worth using? It looks cool, but the price of a 2000+ ATK DARK Monster, just to kill 1500- ATK monsters, not only seems very situational and costly, but it also seems like the price is much too high for the reward.
I always thought it would be very good if used in the proper deck.
I put it in my gravekeeper deck and zombie deck, both of the best decks that can be used with this card. Unfortunately I haven't had the chance to really use it yet, but, I think it will make a very big advantage gain to whoever plays if they can affort to abidcate their big monster.
It may be a situational card for most decks, but if your deck can get out 2000ATK Dark monsters rather easily, then using DDV becomes alot easier.
Like UltimateDeath said, Gravekeeper's and Zombie are both excellent choices for it. But, there's also Fiend (Giant Orc), Warrior (Zombyra), Strike Ninja (any 2000+), and Dark. Deck Devastation Virus may not be for every deck, but for those that can abuse it, it's gives insane control, giving both monster removal, hand disruption, and an insight into the opponent's plans.
When facing a burner that generously gives you a nice 3000 ATK monster, no other card you want on your side of the field than this virus. Not only does it protect your life-points, it also clears your opponent's field and hand of monsters for the next three turns ...
Of course, I play burners myself ... So ... Nah, just leave it at home :devious:
Deck Devastation Virus is a force to be reckoned with, of course its not for every single type of deck, but the same could be said for just about any card other than Pot of Greed. Of course offering up one of your most powerful monsters on the field is a pretty steep price to pay but the benefits are well worth it IF played correctly. Also as others have pointed out there are certain situations where a 2000 or more Dark type monster has become a nuissance or dead weight on your side of the field. These situations range from Nightmare Wheel's to being locked down by Level Limit Area B while your opponent is smacking you directly with 1500 ATK or less monsters, or even if your monster is about to be Snatch Stolen or Creature Swapped for a goat. This card gives you control over field, hand and the next 3 cards your opponent draws, which is almost every single dimension of control. Even if your not destroying much, often in games taking chances on whether an opponent is bluffing or not make or break the game, with this card you will no longer have to take any more chances for that period of three turns; and if you have a good enough memory you can even predict your opponent's next moves and make sure he/she's walking right into your trap. This card will destroy Exodia decks, Weenie Rush decks, Burn/Stall decks, and the occasional Zombie deck which is running more than enough copies of Pyramid Turtle and Spirit Reaper.
i would suggest using this card in a zombie deck because it fits the theme and zombie decks geberally have plenty of 2000+ ATK dark monsters like ryu kokki, vampire lord, and despair from the dark.
as for the effect of the card, its worth it just to see your opponents hand for 3 turns. plus around 30-45 % of monsters in many decks ahve less than 1500 ATK.
Actually, I would run Deck Devastation Virus in a Fiend Deck instead of a Zombie Deck. In a Zombie Deck, you only have four or five monsters in your deck that are 2000 ATK or higher. In a Fiend Deck, you have a wide variety of tribute monsters to choose from and you have one of the best Lv4 beatsticks in the game, Giant Orc. If you have a United We Stand or an Axe of Despair, almost any monster in a Fiend Deck can meet the activation requirement for DDV. In Zombie Decks, Spirit Reaper can't be equipped with anything and most competitive Zombie Decks run a good-sized number of the non-Dark "staple" monsters like Tribe-Infecting Virus, Sinister Serpent, D.D. Warrior Lady, and Chiron.
well the point with the zombies is that its really easy to get out a 2000+ attack monster...call of the mummy + despair with the dark will do it even if you don't have a pyramid turtle that they just destroyed. with fiends, you actually have to waste a summon on it, as well as an equip if you didn't draw giant orc.
Gravekeepers.... now there is a deck this card was created for.
Think about it. Most people run at least two if not three spear soldiers, definately three assailants, and one or two chiefs. That's anywhere from 6 to 8 cards that DDV can be used with. I need to go test that out some.
I dont think dddv is worth it to me sure it clears of the field, hand and drawing powers, but theres a down side ,who would actually give up a 2000 atk power moster for that yes V-lord would be worth it but wat about other montsers it ddv really worth it besides they can cost u the duel if you dont havae it,and wat if you play it get rid of(V-lord,giant orc, etc)and they negate the activationb of ddv hmmm let me tell you u loose the monster and ddv is it really worth it u tell me....

I THINK NOT!!!
First thing I have to point out is that almost any card in the game can be negated, and if a card is negated it becomes pretty obvious that whatever the cost was, that it wasn't worth it. So you can't really specify the fact that it can be negated as a downside seeing how it is a downside that almost every card does possess.
Second, of course it is technically a situational card but like I said b4 it is obviously not a card for every type of deck, but with a deck that creates a prime feeding ground for the virus such as a Zombie deck or Fiend Deck this card can own.
