How does Makiu work? Give an example to show how to use it.

Player A uses Makiu

Because of Makiu's effect, any of the opponent's face up monster's with a DEF less than the selected Thunder Monster's ATK are destroyed and you have to skip the battle phase of the turn. In this case, Don Zaruug and Soul Banisher are destroyed (DEF's are 1500 and 200, less than 2400), but since Blue-Eyes' DEF is 2500, it's higher than Zaborg's ATK of 2400, so it survives.

As for the 2nd part, I presume you're asking based on the Game Boy Game. I don't think they mean to use the Left Arm of the Forbidden One. I can only assume they mean to use Demon Summon/Summoned Skull or something.
