i was going through my commons and saw peten the dark clown and wondered in todays game, can he be decked in a chaos?

On multiple levels I'd have to say no.

On the first level, the only benefit a chaos deck would show from peten is the thining, and they arent likely to get it based exclusively upon the fact that chaos doesnt do good backed into a corner.

Secondly, Peten being a clown, I would hate to see a clown degraded to a chaos deck.... its an insult to me.

Really petens should not have had a optional efffect. That "you can.." IN the text messes up all of petens versatility. Here are two situations that don't work now because peten has to resolve last in a chain but could have worked if petens effect was not optional. Like apprentice magician.

1. tribute peten the dark clown from the field to summon a bigger monster (jinzo, dark ruler etc.) Then reemove him from play to special summon another peten. costless tribute+deck thinning!

2.summon peten the dark clown, summon cannon soldier/mass driver.
tribute peten 1, to special summon petens 2 and 3 in turn while removeing them from play. dealing damage and thinning the deck.

As peten the dark clown is now: you won't be depleted on monster resources when your opponent lightning vortexs your monsters (including peten.) since peten gets sent to the graveyard you can trigger the effect and that works.
and peten can be tribute fodder as you make a stall wall.very Few monsters can't destroy him but the 1200 def occasionally comes in handy. (lord of d.)

well, there is simply the effect to consider. If Peten is able to activate its effect and remove itself, to summon another to the field, you now have 1 Peten RFP and 1 Peten on the Field. neither is very beneficial for summoning a Chaos monster. If all you need is a simple weak stat Dark monster, then may I suggest Goblin Calligrapher or Thousand Eyes Idol?

I have ran peten befor but he is only good for deck thinking and a stall wall. he is the most durable deck thining monster becuse he dosen't care about spell or trap based removal but the optional effect sucks.

purhaps you could run it in a true chaos deck. Giving chaos rider gustaph,peten the dark clown and gren maju da eiza something to work with. Also I you run soul absorption when peten is out with it you will gain 500 life points for when peten is removed. True chaos = The dimensional deck
