First off I love the Advance Format. Its challenges you and forces you to think a bit, unless your a cookie cutting NETDECKER! The Ban list is basically meant to even the playing field and evolve it every 6 months or so. But I wanted to know. What rules the Traditional Format? Are people still whoring out the Chaos or is Yata Control reigning supreme? Or maybe the beatdowns have returned thanks to new cards? Whats the deal?
Why am I asking this even though I don't play Tradition? Insight basically. And touch of boredom.
At least in advanced, you're seeing different decks instead of nearly EVERYONE using the exact same decks (CED + Witch/Sangan + Yata, etc).
As the format name suggests, ADVANCED duelists can get by easily without the need of the "precious" Raigeki, Monster Reborn, Change of Heart, etc.
I HATE how people just complain about the ban saying "<card name> doesn't need to be banned because <card name> negates it/stops it..." when they could say the same thing about other cards that no one really cares about and they vent it by saying that (person really said this) "People who duel with the ban list are just YGO nerds who have no life and no gf."
kay.... I never said I didn't like the Advance format or even implied it... I said I loved it! I just wanted to know what the traditional world was like. Read before you reply. I just wanted some INSIGHT about what people are playing in the Traditional format. I don't even plan on playing in Traditional formats anyone. I haven't since the Advance format was introduced in the US. But knowing about the deck styles in Traditional as well as the Japanese format can help in building a deck in our current Advance Meta.
Most decks I run are in traditonal format. I have a beatdown deck w/ a BLS, just for sheer power, I also have a cyber & Fiber in there as well. Allthough I run x3 Kycoo's im thinking of turing it into an out of play deck and keep my 2 jars in it.
I too love Advanced. I won't even get into what I think of people that play Traditional.
From what I've seen, most/all competitive Traditional decks run all three of the most broken cards in the game, various lights and darks, and the same lineup of Magic and Traps that have always been used with few additions.
I don't play traditional, as I would get beaten fairly quickly, but looking at the game and it's changes since IOC, I would say chaos control still reigns supreme. The last couple of sets gave us different deck types and replacements for banned cards, however, traditional still has the easy-to-summon envoys and its support. SOD's Armed Dragons and Hours Dragons, I believe, cannot top chaos control. RDS's Creator Decks and Machine Decks can't match, and FET's Sacred Phoenix can try, but BLS would just remove it from the game. It can stand a chance against a CED explosion-yata lock, but you might lose the game because of the life point loss before Phoenix comes back.
i hate it when somebody bashes traditonal, alright nobody here said you had to like traditonal.just dont bash it. i respect why you dont play and thats fine but dont go insulting the format and its players. oh and befor you say i run a traditonal cookie cutter i run a light deck and the people who play traditonal in my area are pleanty origonall.but anywho like i said eariler their are alot of traditonal decks that are orignall in my area so i cant say what rules surrpreme.
