Ok, this is gonna sound really weird, but bear with me: I want to try and build a Recursion Deck focusing on Zombies, Phoenix, and possibly a splash of Chaos for diversity.

First off, my reasoning:

- Phoenix is my favorite card right now, since you only need 2 cards to use it: itself and its Hand. To me, this makes it even more flexible than BLS.

- Zombies' trademark is recursion, which Phoenix also does, so mixing the two shouldn't prove too difficult.

- Where the splash of Chaos fits in: Zombies are mainly Dark type, so simply adding some Magician Of Faiths to cycle cards like Book Of Life also makes the deck viable for using Chaos.

Now, the problem: I haven't a clue where to begin. So I'm asking for help/suggestions/combos/strategies, you know, the usual :p

Zombie Pheonix Chaos has been around for a while, my friend. Hell, it even took one of the Shonen Jumps...so it's a good deck. Sorry to bust your bubble of originality though.

I wasn't trying for originality, it was just a thought that occured to me. Remember, I've been gone for 3 months ;)

I have created a Zombie/Phoenix deck that worked pretty well. It is in my signature under "Sacred Phoenix Deck" if you want to check it out. It should at least provide a template for you to construct your own deck.

I agree, you can't call it a Zombie deck with only 6 Zombies in it.

Sorry, we aren't making cute themed deck on this thread, we're making a competitive deck. Also, the deck was never supposed to be a "Zombie" deck. It was suppose to be a Chaos Phoenix Zombie deck. In a 16 monster deck, 6 monster is more than its fair share.

... "cute"? If I recall, a Zombie/Phoenix Deck placed 2nd at a Shonen Jump tournament without the Bacon Lettuce Soldier. I hardly call that "cute".

You are probably correct. However, I'll bet that the deck's creator wasn't worried about how many Zombies were in his deck so that he could call his deck a "Zombie Deck". He just made the deck the best it could be. Also, the creator of this thread said he wanted Chaos in the deck, so take that up with him, not me.

I said the splash of Chaos was only a 'possibility', not a 100% certainty. And really, the focus of the deck is the recursion factor not the Zombies, they just happen to have the best recursion/searchability.

Thanks loads for the ideas everyone. Like I said, I'm still not sure whether I'll run with the whole Chaos thing, I'm afraid that the deck might end up trying to do too much at once.

On reviewing the strategies involved with this particular deck type, I've decided not to run one on Saturday, since I want time to get the mechanics down right, rather than making a fool of myself.
It is an idea I'm going to pursue though, since I've been interested in Zombies for a while now :cool:
